FAO those with kids born between 1986 and 2003

Post by Thorby Bislam »

You may unaware that you may be entitled to a rebate of £520 from HMRC for the year that tax credits came in and you did not get anything. Apparently it wasn't advertised widely enough at the time and a lot of people missed out.
Be quick though. You've only got until saturday to apply. (I only found out about this today).
Last chance for Childrens Tax Credit!Last chance to claim Children's Tax Credit - the deadline is 31 January 2009.

Prior to the current Tax Credits system being introduced, working faimiles with children could claim an allowance available from the Inland Revenue (now HMRC) called Children's Tax Credit. You can still make an application for this allowance, however the deadline for making these claims is 31 January 2009. The allowance is either £529 or £1,048.

IMPORTANT: Claims must be submitted by the 31st January 2009 deadline.

You may be eligible to claim if:

You have a child born between 6th April 1986 and 5th April 2003 .
The child lived with you for all or part of 2002/2003.
You worked and paid tax for all or part of 2002/2003.
You may be eligible to claim the full allowance of £1,048 if:

You can answer yes to the above questions and one of your children was born between 6th April 2002 and 5th April 2003

Notes:

Claiming this money will not affect your current or future entitlement to Child Tax Credits or Working Tax Credits.
Your marital status at the time will not affect your claim. You may be eligible for this payment if you were married, living together as husband and wife or single.
To qualify for the payment, you or your partner must have earned over £6,000 in the 2002/2003 tax year.
You can only calim this allowance if you haven't already claimed the allowance in 2002.
If your final tax code on your April 2003 P60 ended in a H or a T, you have already had the allowance.
If you are unsure or want to ask further advice, you should contact HMRC.

In order to claim the allowance, you will need to complete application form 11CTC and return it before 31 January 2009.

Form 11CTC can be found here.

Use this form to claim Children's Tax Credit for tax year 2002-03. The last date to claim is 31 January 2009, claims for tax year 2001-02 are no longer possible. Completed forms should be returned to: HM Revenue & Customs, 9th Floor, Castle House, 31 Lisbon Street, Leeds LS1 4SW.

You can also find details of your local HMRC Enquiry Centre here.

IMPORTANT: Claims must be submitted by the 31st January 2009 deadline
Download claim forms here: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/11ctc.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You now know as much as I do. Good luck.

This was in the sun the other day, missus grabbed me and shoved me to the phone when i came in from work, not even a kiss or a fecking cuppa.
But alas when i phoned them they had apparently already given it to me in my tax code and not as lump sum.

Still didn't get a kiss or a cuppa after that.
