ANNUAL LEAVE CARRIED FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR

Hi

Hope you can help me on this one, basically I have 2 weeks annual leave left for the 2008/09 year but there is very little to chose form on the leave front in our office... how many days / weeks can be carried forward to next years leave?

i believe top whack is 5 days unless your saving them for the chance in a lifetime holiday, which you are entitled to do.
it doesn't matter that there isn't much to choose from unfortunately. you may have to get used to the fact that you must use you entitlement or lose it.

Carrying leave into another year

Annual leave should generally be taken in the year that it is due, and the business expects all employees to have at least four weeks away from work every year. However up to one week (or 5 odd days) may be carried over into the next leave year, and up to five days may be anticipated during the last month of the previous leave year. Transfer of leave in excess of these limits requires written permission from the line manager, except that leave that cannot be taken due to sick leave may be allowed in the following year. Where this is granted and would reduce the annual leave taken in a particular leave year to less than four weeks, the individual must also confirm in writing that they are willing to voluntarily forgo their statutory leave entitlement under the Working Time Regulations 1998.

Not 100% with that,no doubt someone will come on and give you the proper info.
But as far as i'm aware,from april you should get your full allocation,you will need to see your manager about putting in a holiday form.But chances are there wont be much good weeks left now.

I think you are entitled to 1 weeks leave for every 3 months you work,so you may get a week in right at the end,have chat with your rep and Dom.

Nope ours will stay the same.

Minimum entitlement now is 28 days including the 8 days Public and Bank Holidays.

Basic under Royal Mail is 4 weeks based on a 5 day week = 20 days + 8 days PH - means we already get the minimum. So unless the CWU and RM can come to some agreement in the future we will not get an increase in our basic entitlement.

I would of thought so,if you had at least worked a whole year before.But don't quote me on that,but if i left in may,they should owe me 4 weeks.

No, the holidays are accrued over the year but are given to you given to you on the basis that you'll work the entire year, they will take back any holiday over payment for either your last pay packet or they'll take you to the small claims court to get their money back.
