Nah, don't quote that. The manager in question has blocked part of the weeks in February/ May/ and October (when the schools break up) and he's gonna straight away say that as those aren't SUMMER months, your argument isn't valid
it doesn't have to be summer if you are absorbing walks, or perfroming measures introduced in the summer. if these measures were introduced for the summer period and not removed then its still summer.

the removal of a/l doesn't sound fair based on last years s/l. flag it up now, if the headcopunt is 10 then thats how many should be allowed off, not including the fact that the headcount should increase when absorbtion and the like are still in operation

It all depends on if you were giving time to book your leave, and you didn't hand the sheet back in the required time, usually seven days
For 2009 a/l, I wasn't given any sheet with a/l planning on it! lol...
It was quite simply given to me with the 3 weeks already allocated...
Talk to the manager dealing with leave, ask him why you were allocated the three weeks, if you are not happy with his answer(you obviously won't be) ask him to put in writing his reason's, go and see your union rep and get him/her to take up your case, if your not in the union you will probably have to take a grievance out against the manager.

I had a similar problem regarding school holidays.Look at the problem from a different angle,tell the Manager you fully understand his staffing problem,but you cannot take your kids out of school in school time for family holidays.
Ask him to put it in writing that RM will not allow you to have holidays in school time.--mY guess is at this point he will back down,as RM have a family freindly policy ,and on the other side if they put someting in writing, you then have them by the B-------s.

I will write a letter to him as he is denying people the chance to spend quality time with thier children.
