Postman cut free from van after A500 accident

ACCIDENT: A postman was cut free from his Royal Mail van after a collision on the slip road between two roundabouts on the A500.

The incident, pictured, happened at 11.07am yesterday on the southbound carriageway at Stoke.

Fire crews from Longton and Hanley used specialist cutting equipment to free the man from the van by 11.50am.

He was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

His injuries were not thought to be life threatening.

The slip road was re-opened shortly after.

A timely reminder to always use your seatbelt (although I still can't understand why the seatbelt alarm is turned off in all the vans).

The back doors of the van are open so he was probably disciplined foer not looking after the mail.
