If only they put as much energy into protecting the interests of members as they do trying to cling on to their full-time release....Told today they even tried to delay the elections because they were hoping the NDC would discipline some of us to stop us standing...apparently the NDC refused the request because they didn't want to appear to be prejudging the situation....sounds like they already have done!!!!

As to your question I am unable to reply. You should direct that to the acting branch sec and ask if you havent already done so why collectively the BC voted the way it did.

The "acting" branch secretary is refusing to put in writing the reasons...so back to you Big Daz, were you there? Which way did you vote? What were your reasons????

I do however note that you were not at the meeting on the credentials and will take your word for it that you would not have voted for the motion had you been at the meeting.

Neither were you. Indeed you are never there which seems a bit strange for an IR rep. My colleagues are asking if you will be there next week as Dave Ward is coming....we have a few questions we would like to put to him....could be very interesting. Strange as it seems not all meetings have 100% attendance.

Strange as it seesm I put back in rep last year late as I intended to stand down but was convinced to stay on which i did as pegasus and flexibilty were on the way and a on site rep was vital in my view. To be honest im not interested in being a IR rep anymore.

As for next weeks meeting I have asked for release, nice to have a meeting thats not on my day off which for the forseeable future is taken up delivering leaflets for the green party of which im a member.

You may or may not or noticed that nobody put in for Political officer by the close of nominations and combined with my desire to stand down as IR rep in march I could well be just another rank and file mbr soon.

Wranglered, if you are so sure that people have been indulging in Lap Dancing Clubs, on Union expenses. Then you should be making a formal complaint, through the proper channels. This is NOT the place to be having this argument, when you aren't presenting evidence to back up your claims.

If you're right about it happening. Then there needs to be some disciplinary action. If you're wrong, and persist in making these claims. The one(s) you're accusing, could potentially press charges for deformation of character. Please be careful.

Big Daz, you seemed to be a bit clued up, so hope do you mind if I asked a question from you, how do the members of this Y.A.C. be elected and of course it has to be within the Rules of the CWU Union on how they become elected to the Y.A.C.

I was nominated once for the YAC but Conference did not choose me.

To get on the list of nominees for conference to consider one I assume would need to go through their branch committee.

Why not send a email to Simon Sapper who can fill you in on all the latest and current rules and regulations and info for the YAC.

How can I be passing the buck? Im recommending you get genuine bona fida facts from the national officer responsible for the YAC rather than simply rely on my opinion/memory.

Conference chooses from the nominees for the YAC, what process is used i do not know as that is done at general conference and I have only attended postal conference.

A new YAC is chosen every year at Conference, but some will be re elected.

Being less than two weeks away from hitting 34 years of age my memory being a old duffer is not what it was so i cant tell you the nomination process I went through way back when I was in my 20's. However there will be people in my branch who do recall and i will ask the question of the nomination process from 7 years ago.

There does not appear to be info on the CWU website as to how to go about being nominated in the first place. Seems a bit strange to me.
