LUV THE SMELL OF LETTERS wrote:we have this in our office at minute. we have been told that it runs at 5 mph which is too fast. should be set to 3.5 mph. when the pegasus chucks out the walks it prints them out as the way the crow flys. as in one big area like square miles. it dosnt take into account of alleys and walls and the likes. The union rep hasnt agreed to the walks and the office staff have to start all over again. :dance
At my Pegasus brief I was told the agreed walk speed with the CWU was 2.6 mph, and I think that is still to fast with weight on your shoulder. This is going to cripple people as they get older.
Apparently RM are saying that posties are expected to walk at 2.1mph.

Hi its been nearly 3 months since we have had pegasus inforced on us,my code sorted bundles are still going somewhere else,no sign of the pouchboxes i need, and the manager still thinks pegasus is perfect despite the office falling apart around him. He has still not sorted the rural rounds out yet so it is only half done. One bonus is that he has not spoken to me for nearly 2 months (must be on the naughty boys list) :so there

TBH I can't remember when we went on Pegasus - I think it was about april last year - the rural vans were to be sorted later and later and later and still waiting and lo and behold park and loop appears and the rural vans are still waiting.

They want to use Park and Loop on rural duties but they are only supposed to be 4hr15min, although they are exactly the same as the previous proposals which said they where 5hr

:Very Happy :Very Happy :Very Happy The last delivery I did was 4hrs prior to SDD - then, with nothing added and nothing taken off suddenly became 3hrs 30 - not that it mattered to me I used to leave in on a daily basis anyway.

''''''''Big d'''''''' can't help but just wonder at your 'perfect office' :hmmmm seems everything you desire is in place but the reality of others in do's throught the length and bredth of this island are finding it difficult at best just to complete deliverys daily. My do is a shambles with no manager with any capabilities to get it right and geo-route not mentioned anymore

Perfect? Well plenty of my comrades were out and about by 8.15 am yesterday.

Plenty of moaning and groaning goes on in my office!

I had the common sense a few years ago before the savings mantra really kicked it big time to put in a request for double pouch boxes. Although due to route changes its possible to swop one of my doubles for somebodys single.

The problem with more boxes is that they neeed planning permission which dosent allways get granted and the info i have from my DOM is that RM HQ are no longer buying installing pouch boxes. Obvisouly in RML'S world shared vans are cheaper than a few extra pouch boxes. :chuckle

Pegasus is the old name for it, the new supersonic name is Geo-route, it is supposed to take into account terrain.
However unless you have a good Union rep, they should also allow for meal breaks, pouch drop's, dead walking etc; etc;
The default walking speed is 4mph, if you have a large round then ask for a HCT (high capacity trolley) the default speed for this is 3.6mph, the other thing that should be accounted for is human contact, we are not robots!!

Hope this helps

Hello everyone. I'm curious. Given the recent largely negative publicity concerning the implementation of the 'Pegasus Geo' system, I'm just wondering how long the Royal Mail has been using it for? Is it at the localised pilot stage or is somekind of national roll out planned or currently being implemented? Also, given what appear to be the many problems that appear to be occurring because of it, as reported in the press, large mail backlogs etc are plans in place to ammend the software based on staff concerns? And what systems were in place before 'Pegasus Geo' was introduced - did staff use street maps on their rounds to plan their routes, for example? Silly question, but were things better before?

Cant wait til we get a rep for our office...

They must be simple, nationaly it state's last letter 2pm. End of story
Never knew that, I've delivered until about 3.30PM before...
I believe that one offs are ok but if it becomes regular on a particular duty then the DOM is meant to come up with a plan to sort it out,
You CAN NOT make/plan a delivery duty that makes the last letter past 2pm.
But like teebs said,it does happen, say because of it being belated and the like.

I think i said in one of the other treads,I went to a meeting with my Area and Branch Rep there was also another Union member whom i don't know but was higher up the union ladder and very informed.Any way long story short they are going to make finish times in my Office between 2:30pm and maybe 3:30pm for Town Delivery's.When it was pointed out to the Area Manager that the USO said Final Delivery time for Towns was 2:00pm his reply was "That's just a target to aim for and if we need to go passed it we can and will".So Now they they are forcing it on us with Executive Action and the Union seems powerless to stop it.
