BT tracked items

Some of you seem to be forgetting its part of the contract with BT to leave in a safe place, if we dont do that when appripiate then we risk them taking their work elsewhere. Under the contract RM are exempt from paying compensation if items go missing. Read the offical document postman posted and stick to that so if you can leavea BT item out of sight and under cover then do so as thats what BT are paying for!!!

I quite agree with you - ours not to reason why, if it goes missing then it goes missing, end of story - the only exception I would adhere to is if it was a terraced house without a garden and open to view then I would return it to the callers for appropriate action.

Instruction in our place is if delivery can't be made then return item to the office and 739.

Which is exactly what the procedure is for BT tracked items.

The stuff postman posted says if you have anydoubts about the safe place being safe take the item back.

It also says as part of the contractual aggrement with BT we are not liable for any loss.

Seems like the wording could be a bit clearer, still thats the way things are done in RM far too may time.

Well said and i have raised the same point with my DOM he said if in doubt bring it back and do not take a chance!.

BT Tracked info is on the big screens, why not ask your DOM if he can spare you to read whats on the screen so as to enable you to do your job to a high standard.

I have seen this in our office as yet had no re del's for the early attempt and told the manager and the dom i will not leave packet's unless their was a place too leave it written on the packet.

BT Tracked items are still Special Delivery over here in NI, so they still get P739'd and returned to the office (even though they say 'leave in a safe place under cover').

Have been informed today that if we deliver one of these and there is no answer and there is no safe place to leave it we have to try again if going back past the property. Also they are going to send people out with them later in the afternoon/evening. Wonder if this is a huge contract they cannot afford to lose. Regarding the safe place issue was amazed we can leave these in places when they look like they could be worth a bob or two but when we had endless light bulbs that even said on the packet "leave in safe place if out" we were told we had to 739 them.......barmy

There rules are very simple, if a packet cannot be delivered then it's P739'd, it's never to be left unless the householder has given written instructions to the DOM stating otherwise. If you have spare time then why not try to re-deliver the item but if you've no time then you've no time.

Not for BT Tracked - there are new rules for those because BT have accepted responsibility for loss should an item go missing. The ruling is now a second attempt must be made after 4 pm and should that fail then another visit must be made after 7.15 and before 8.00 the next day. I must say though there have only been a couple where a third visit has been necessary. As far as I am aware these restrictions have been added since the contract was accepted by RM.

From yesterday at our office we are to leave Bt tracked even if no safe place told to leave on door step it's a joke
