Re: Free papers left sticking out of the letterbox. Arrrrgh!
Forgot to say, I had someone chasing me down the road rather irate a few months after I'd started claiming I'd posted some fast food leaflet thing thru his door because it wasn't there before and it was there after the post arrived so therefore it must've been me. I pointed out that I had not posted the offending item and suggested that maybe it was stuck in between the flaps of the letterbox and went thru when I posted his letters thru. I also pointed out that I didn't have any of the those items on my person. I still had to stand there and listen to him rant about the shite that gets posted thru his door (which of course was all my fault because I actually send him the stuff obviously).

The wheelie bins have got to be the most annoying aspect of our delivery rounds. Maybe I'm wrong, but I get the distinct impression that the rubbishmen, err, I mean, dustmen, are actually being told by their management to place the fuggin wheelie bins where the gate is, when it's normally closed.
Why, oh why can't they just do the sensible thing and leave them to one side, unless it's because of some unbeknown law to us that the public have more right to access the pavement than we do to gain access to someone else's front door?
Still, I can't help feeling that those barsteward bin men are reaping some kind of satisfaction out of their job by doing this to us. Obviously, if health and safety were about the wellbeing of our actual health and safety this sort of activity would have been outlawed by now.

We posties do things differently, but we still get shot at!

It annoys me when they claim that the postman never knocked and just left a docket. I point out to them that it's more work and hassle to bring the thing back than to get rid so why would they not try?
I knock HARD and ring the bell if there is one, wait about 30 seconds and then do the same again. After I've knocked the 2nd time I start writing out the docket but fill in the back first just to give them a bit more time and then if they still don't arrive they get the docket. I've had them claiming that I didn't knock too.

This annoyed me too, I even had a go at some of them telling to push there papers through the letter boxes, like you I have pull them out and left them on the floor, so that I can put the mail throughk66yla wrote:I used to pull them out and throw them on the doorstep, another thing that gets on my nerves is wheelie bins that are left in the middle of the path/gate they are a nightmare to move even when empty
I had exactly the same problem today, the bins were in front of the gate, I too thought the bin men were doing this on purpose, it was a real pain, moving these annoying bins out of the wayPost Off wrote:The wheelie bins have got to be the most annoying aspect of our delivery rounds. Another thing that p's me off is:
1. new upvc doors, the letterbox has a sprung hinge that'll take your fingers off, followed by 2 draught excluder brushes that you can't push anything through unless its made of reinforced steel and then a flap on the inside
2. vertical letterboxes
3. letterboxes on the bottom of a door
4. victorian letterboxes that you can just about squeeze a postcard through, people that have these are the ones that have love film cd's everyday

So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I hate those sneaky gates, the ones that glide open with the slightest touch promising easy unimpeded access with no loss of pace ,then at half open stage they screech to an instant stop and attack your delicate bits leaving poor old postie rolling on the lawn groaning and clutching his bundle with the contents of his sack scattered far and wide
Bye

Hanging baskets are my pet hate, not only do you almost crack your head open on them, you get a shower of muck in your hair for your troubles.

One useful lesson i learnt about wheely bins is,do not ram them out of the way with your bike when they have been emptied because someone may have put theirs out too late or have been missed and it is still heavy and they do not move
