Redirects - Wilful delay?
Went to do my redirects today, having had a day off, and found a load of letters at the back of each redirect folder from the previous day. Whoever has done the walk has taken them out but has not bothered with a sticker or putting them in a bag. This has happened a few times now on different walks. I'm guessing that cover people don't get out of doing them, so what are they playing at?
Maybe I'm missing something but If a manager ever bothers to check them then surely they're caught red handed for wilful delay?

Re: Redirects - Wilful delay?
All Redirections on a duty MUST be done on a daily basis, this is a service that customers pay for and which we should be providing. The old excuse there aint no stickers is not on,there are offical redirection blank stickers which the new address can be wrote on which aint the end of the world. In our office management will even print off new ones for you on blank labels and write offical redirection on it with the number untill a new batch arrive.I must say though those redi labels are to small and need to be made larger.Just to let you know i have 81 redirections on my walk at the moment :crazy:And yes they will be done for willful delay.

Re: Redirects - Wilful delay?
Why don't Royal Mail get creative for once, and bring in some kind of recognition software that can spot the correct combinations of names and addresses, and when a candidate is recognized will simply apply the correct redirection label to it. Or is that too hard for a machine?

It's all the fault of the lazy staff, oh wait, it's because the management couldn't run a bath let alone an efficient business.Post Off wrote:Why don't Royal Mail get creative for once, and bring in some kind of recognition software that can spot the correct combinations of names and addresses, and when a candidate is recognized will simply apply the correct redirection label to it. Lunacy posting Makro to Australia alongside Capital One offer same day it arrives, common sense needs to apply ie if all re directions mailsort then an extra day matters not a jot.

Except the customer pays for all items to be re-directed 1st class - and its says on label to treat as 1st class. Sorry but if we cant stick to simple instructions why should we expect RM to stick to agreements. Be better than them do your best all the time, not just when you can be arsed.steviemac wrote:Lunacy posting Makro to Australia alongside Capital One offer same day it arrives, common sense needs to apply ie if all re directions mailsort then an extra day matters not a jot.

Re: Redirects - Wilful delay?
The problem will probably be because you have a part itmer covering a full timers duty. It could also be that they are lazy and don't really care about the job as well. In our office my duties being lapsed at the moment, in order to get the maximum amount of people taking the lapsing out, managment will let them leave just after 8am, even though I haven't finfished boxing in, or the missorts haven;t arrived and the redirections aren't done. Most of this mail comes back a few days later marked as gone away, when it is then redirected. I expect the complaints to come flooding in. I have riased the issue with managers and all I get is nothing you can do.

Common sense also suggests that we probably lose money sending redirections containing junk mail daily especially when the weight of several letters in a re dir envelope would cost several ££ if costed by size and weight ... won't take long before the fee charged is exhausted.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Except the customer pays for all items to be re-directed 1st class - and its says on label to treat as 1st class. Remember it's already been paid for once so the re-direction fee is just there to provide a service not for the individual items (and at least half of them in my office are local).steviemac wrote:Common sense also suggests that we probably lose money sending redirections containing junk mail daily especially when the weight of several letters in a re dir envelope would cost several ££ if costed by size and weight ... won't take long before the fee charged is exhausted.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Except the customer pays for all items to be re-directed 1st class - and its says on label to treat as 1st class. I got one from one part of my walk to another - in fact its in the same bag just 2 or 3 bundles later.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:Remember it's already been paid for once so the re-direction fee is just there to provide a service not for the individual items (and at least half of them in my office are local).steviemac wrote:Common sense also suggests that we probably lose money sending redirections containing junk mail daily especially when the weight of several letters in a re dir envelope would cost several ££ if costed by size and weight ... won't take long before the fee charged is exhausted.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Except the customer pays for all items to be re-directed 1st class - and its says on label to treat as 1st class. Happens quite often, usually council houses moving from one street to another.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:I got one from one part of my walk to another - in fact its in the same bag just 2 or 3 bundles later.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:Remember it's already been paid for once so the re-direction fee is just there to provide a service not for the individual items (and at least half of them in my office are local).steviemac wrote:Common sense also suggests that we probably lose money sending redirections containing junk mail daily especially when the weight of several letters in a re dir envelope would cost several ££ if costed by size and weight ... won't take long before the fee charged is exhausted.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Except the customer pays for all items to be re-directed 1st class - and its says on label to treat as 1st class.
