re: 40% less efficient

Post by F0zziebear »

I take exception to the media using this statistic without really understanding what it refers to.

Bascially the media are inferring that Royal Mail employees are 40% less efficient, as most readers have no idea how their mail gets processed.

1. Royal Mail's competitors collect and process large volumes of homogenous items that are machine readable
2. Their machines are state of the art and process letters & flats are much higher speeds and with equal if not better accuracy.

When you add these together and compare them against the mixed bag Royal Mail processes then they are going to be less efficient. My question is this:

We all know and probably accept that Royal Mail is not as efficient as it could be and not as efficient as it's competitors, but using a level playing field what is the true difference?

I also see in today's Torigraph (is that a left wing paper because Labour are more right wing than the compassionate Cameron Conservatives?) Anyway it says that Crozier has asked the mediators to come in.

Let me know what you want my Sunday semron to focus on this week

Fozz

You are slightly misguided, as it's Leighton and Crozier who are spouting we are 40% underworked and 25% overpaid.

The press are merely repeating their garbage.

And given that Leighton sits on the board of News International, no wonder they keep repeating his sh*te.

re: Media are responsible for not understanidng the industry

Post by F0zziebear »

The media are responsible for checking their facts and understand what it is they are saying.

We also saw the Independent seem to think that the competition deliver their own mail. It doesn't take a genius to notice that no-one else is delivering large quantities of mail in this country.

It's about time our gutter press (refer to almost all of them) started earning their corn rather than cutting and pasting in company's/union's press statements!

I've written to all of the press we've one on here who hasn't said anything.
They're not interested.

I recieved this from Ian King Business editor in the Sun.

What was printed.

Q. Is pay a big part of the dispute?

A. Yes. The CWU objects to the 2.5 per cent offer while Mail boss Adam Crozier may get a £1million bonus.

When i challenged him,his reply was.

Many thanks for your email, ******
I regret to say that what appeared in the newspaper was not quite what I submitted for production and, somewhere along the line, my copy was altered. For your interest, this is what I had wanted to say.
Best wishes
Ian King

IS PAY A BIG PART OF THE DISPUTE?
Partly. The CWU objects to the 2.5 per cent offer tabled by Royal Mail. And many posties are livid that Royal Mail chief executive Adam Crozier could receive a bonus of £1million this year.
But, at heart, this is an old-fashioned strike of the kind we saw in the 70s and 80s. Royal Mail’s management wants to run the business one way — the CWU wants it run another way.
As Mr Crozier put it recently: “This will be bloody. We have had the miners, we have had Longbridge and now we have this.â€
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
