It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Office savings
Its nationwide !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My DOM has been instructed to take out 61 hours but he has said thats not possible, so now we await to see if the senior delivery manger (cluster DOM'S manager) is going to accept. Problem is outdoor savings have all been had and theres not a single minute to have IMHO. Indoor duties are 2 x RLE duties one earlies and one lates and thats it for indoor duties and compressing there work from 80 hours into 19 hours maybe rather tricky. That leaves SA hours which are all in the afternoon period and used for collections from buissness, postboxes and post offices to take 61 hours from that would mean compressing aprox 130 hours into 69 hours which obvisouly wont work unless all the buissness customers cancel their mail collection.

Re: Office savings
The PEC have carried the policy of no further savings. This will be infromed to Branch`s in due course and will likely be mentioned at the briefing today.
Lets hope all offices or the vast majority keep to this policy and create the right enviorment to get a national agreement which sees improvements in terms and conditions including a shorter working week. We must expose the fact that Royal Mails slash and burn appoach to change has nothing to do with modensation and is really about cutting costs and services and quality.
Modensation is about new technology such as walk sequencing making the job more effiencent and it should be about new products and growing the bussiness.
Instead crozier when he mentions modensation he means why do we have to talk to the cwu about change his view of modensation is that in the future Royal Mail wish to close a mail centre or merge a delivery office then all they need to do is give the 90 day legal notice HRI.
Whatever your views on PAY and MOD and what effect it has had in your office it pales into insignifcance with what Royal Mails real plans are for the future.
The only way to defeat these plans is for us to unite and make sure that no savings are given up until we have an acceptable national agreement in place. This is part of the reason for the IR summit.

Re: Office savings
i would very much like to see something from HQ regarding this so i can poke it in the DIM's face, as i've just this week been approached about savings. We have him on hold at the moment though from monies owed. they commited themselves to a figure in august now they say we didn't reach the targets set. Our response thus far is and always has been that we signed off on an amount of money.dingo wrote:The PEC have carried the policy of no further savings. Re: Office savings
agree , we have been told we need to cut 400 hours , even the Distribution Manager who has to implement this , has said he is struggling to find anywhere near those cuts in hours .the fact is we are just about cut to the bare bone and struggle now to get our dispatches out in time.bogstandard wrote:i would very much like to see something from HQ regarding this so i can poke it in the DIM's face, as i've just this week been approached about savings. Re: Office savings
120 hours in my office, the problem is that the office now runs on OT so all that will happen is another 120hours OT every week

Re: Office savings
yes but the OT budget is a different budget, stupidity rules, cut hours out reduce full time to part time then put it all back through as overtime. It's all so more senior managers can hand in a little bit of paper saying we've saved ex amount of hours from that office, they get a pat on the back and a bonus we work harder and the customers get a worse service as they get their mail on overtime.

Re: Office savings
We are like that in our office. You couldn't make it up how f*cking clueless they are at the top. Less and less folk in our office are working their days off now as well so it is obviously harder to get cover but still they plod on........disgruntledpostie1 wrote:120 hours in my office, the problem is that the office now runs on OT so all that will happen is another 120hours OT every week
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.
