Explains why we get so much unsorted or raw mail nowadays - IPS time has gone up in my DO over the last 4 years and the amount of people doing it has staid the same. Its further proof in my opinion that the culture of passing on a problem to someone else, always hits the DOs hardest because we are at the end of the Pipeline. Even today a light Tuesday we still had a full yorky of raw unsorted flats to do on top of our normal IPS, Flats and letters.
Not many of them making sense in either literal or logical ways though; compliant staff are much easier to find in the midst of an ever-deepening recession.
That said, automation failures are a rare thing, and the typical MC employee wouldn't know his Aberdeens from his Aberdares anyway....

Consider yourself lucky - we had about 12 of flats and 3 letters unsorted - we have fewer sorters but they sort from 0645 to 0845 today - then there's the DBFs and large packets.
