Postman quits over dumped mail inquiry

A NORTH Lincolnshire postman has resigned following an internal inquiry into undelivered mail.

It is understood Royal Mail investigators were called in after mail was found dumped on a local rubbish tip.

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said: "A postman at Scunthorpe has resigned following an internal inquiry into undelivered mail."

She declined to make any further comment.

Pete Hopper, the secretary of the 150-strong branch of the Communication Workers Union, said he was unable to make any comment.

The employee in question has not been named.
