THE Capital's city centre delivery office is to move to newly refurbished premises in Roseburn early next month as part of a £2.3 million investment plan.
Royal Mail will relocate the Edinburgh City Delivery Office, which is currently situated on Brunswick Road and serves customers in the EH1, EH2 and EH3 postcode areas, to refurbished premises on Russell Road – almost three miles away.

Royal Mail said the move, which takes effect from Monday, February 2, is part of a drive to improve delivery services.

The delivery office's 94 employees will also transfer, with Royal Mail promising there will be no resulting job cuts.

Service should also stay the same.

Ricky McAulay, Royal Mail area general manager for the east of Scotland, said: "The move will have absolutely no impact on the delivery and collection services we provide for customers. The change will mean, though, that customers will now have to come to Roseburn to pick up parcels and packets on occasions when a 'while you were out' card has been left by the postman."

The remaining delivery offices at Brunswick Road will continue to serve customers with postcodes EH5, EH6, EH7 and EH8.

Don't understand that, If mail volumes are dropping why are they moving office. I would presume that they have to relocate half the postcode sectors from Brunswick Road as they are too busy, or is it a phased move ? If it's not a phased move surely this shows that Royal Mails Closure of office to merge them with others doesn't work ?

Brunswick will be closing when they sort out a sale and all postcodes relocated
russel road was my old DO :(
