Why Do I Bother
I get hazzled when I challenge a colleague regarding the amount of overtime they book in one day. On somedayz they book 11 hours overtime, now taking into account there duty starts at 11.00am and they arrive to start there overtime at 06.00am. All 11 hours are booked on delivery only.
So from 06.00 to 11.00 = 5.00 hours before there duty starts, however this person likes to expose to management that they can perform 11 hours overtime in 5 hours and on some occations get others to cover his/her duty while they are continuing with there overtime. Are you keeping up???
I have tried "oh have I tried" to explain that this sort of behaviour is not acceptable as I, as well as you pay good money out of our wages for Headquaters to speak to our employers on our behalf to arrange good working conditions in the form of agreements. i.e 11 hours rest brake, 65 hours earnings per week and so on and so forth.
So "why do I bother" when you have greedy mindless sapps exposing duties and overtime to management, at the moment i have no idea, comuth the day when this plonker screams at the union to save his job because it been used in a savings program.
Has anyone got this kind of mindless idiot in there unit??????????

Yeh, got one at my DO who drives like an absolute idiot (all four wheels off the ground at times !!) so he can come back to the office much earlier than the regular guy so he can look good. Halfwit.
Trouble is the DOM tries using him as a yardstick.

capitalisium thats all it is. Thatcher greed. However who's the bad guy when you feel like stating to the D.I.M sorry D.O.M, "why are you letting this happen" but whats more puzzling is why our unit rep allows it, sorry again "his part of the capitalistic gaining party" yes the CGP. these people "our colleagues" dont give a rats hoot about unions or what they stand for, they are just interested in how they can shaft the next person out of overtime.
Help Me!!! what can be done to stop this ?????????

At the end of the day, if RM want you to do the work then they should pay you what you want and if the DOM agrees to pay 11 hours for 5 hours work then that's his concern. If my DOM ever wanted me to do any OT then I'd make him pay dearly for it.

Have you no concept of unity, or is it in your book "alls fair in love and war"??? and I feel I did not make myself clear, the D.O.M is new and am not sure if they are aware what is going on because the overtime booking system is done by another acting manager/ staff rescourcing. Everything is fixed if need be!!!disgruntledpostie1 wrote:At the end of the day, if RM want you to do the work then they should pay you what you want and if the DOM agrees to pay 11 hours for 5 hours work then that's his concern. Are you Number 2 on the list of the CGP?

What do you mean unity? You come on here and berate people who don't follow your own particular rules or are you just annoyed because he's getting something you didn't think ofwolfie citizen smith wrote:Have you no concept of unity, or is it in your book "alls fair in love and war"??? and I feel I did not make myself clear, the D.O.M is new and am not sure if they are aware what is going on because the overtime booking system is done by another acting manager/ staff rescourcing. Another thing, why are you bothering yourself over something that is NOTHING to do with you
(jealousy does seem to be the reason).

Re: Why Do I Bother
I believe that this is one of the spanish practices alluded to by Royal Mail and quite rightly so. There is no excuse for booking more time than you actually work, commonly known as ghost docket. Many offices must have docket zombies who work more overtime hours than many officers have hourly contracts. It is a practice that should be stopped. If a manager reaches an agreement to pay more hours than the work is worth then he is in the wrong. There seems to be a cult of surviving on overtime as an organisation which is damaging to running an efficicent operation. How many vacancies would be created if the overtime was not worked repeatedly on a daily basis, people stopped coming in early, stopped using their cars and stopped running round like blue arsed flies

May I express that the "rules" are not mine, they are ours which are laid out by Headquarters v Royal Mail. I will gladly scrub you from the CGP, but refute your remark brother relating to me "rushing around" I make my duty last its time allocated thank you.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:What do you mean unity? Are you Number 2 on the list of the CGP?I don't do ANY OT because if they want me to then I demand extra payment and they have other people (maybe like yourself) who'll just come in and rush around for a few hours pay.
My main concern is the mindless sapps that expose to our employer how easy certain parts of the job are easier than others and book 11 hours overtime in 5 hours.!!!
