Truth or just rumour
I have been told by more than a few work mates, that the DOMs are on a bonus if they can get rid of full time staff via the conduct code.Anyone else hear this ?

Re: Truth or just rumour
Well that is a big Conspiracy Theory. But TBH I think its rumour mill gone into overdrive.
I suspect that the DOMs are on a bonus if they can hit RMs budget and perhaps also if they meet any target for reduction in their Units hours. When some DOMs don't make a PT worker up to FT when a FT leaves to help meet this target, this only adds to the suspicion every one has.
Also I honestly don't think that if there was such a bonus scheme that they could keep every manager in the country from spilling the beans, especially when they leave RM, and I also doubt its even legal to have a contract to reduce manpower by using the disciplinary process.
If there is any truth to it its more likely the actions of an overzealous DOM, who when found out will be moved sideways or hung out to dry. It would depend on how RM think the situation will be perceived in the press (if at all) as to what would happen to them.

Re: Truth or just rumour
not true, but as trueblueterrier stated it will go down to budgetry consrtaints.if a f/t position goes they will almost automatically go p/t.however it does seem like it as we have had some over zealous doms that would do almost anything to get a nice bonus.in our office we have a ratio of 60/40 f/t to p/t on which most of the f/t duties gone have been natural wastage and evr.

:nanaIn our office, it has seemed that every time they need to shed staff, they always get rid of people through the disciplinary route----usually people who should have been out the door long ago,-but have been let off for years withlinkinpark wrote:This is all about perceptions on both sides but in our office after geo route hit us we had to shed a dozen jobs and instead of the last in first out as in every other firm P/T casuals were kept on and we lost four F/T posties for sickness not doing D2Ds in the 6 weeks of the review. After that wastage and laying off of a few casuals. I dont think its policy but if management can beat people with a stick and make savings then they will. One good thing is one of the guys has been giving his job back with full back pay because they stuffed up the paperwork. The other thing that is a concearn to me seems to be the tacit agreement from the CWU to these job cuts without direct involvement of the members or was this another thing hidden in the 2007 shafting we took?

The only news I've heard on the bonus front is - Managers will get a 2 per cent bonus on their salary if mail is cleared with no failures and also a 10 per cent bonus on their salary if they can achieve a certian amount of cutback in hours.

This is total rubbish! A bonus for getting rid of full time staff?? This would not only be immoral I am sure it would also raise some legal issues. Many on here have a low opinion of DOM,s but this is honestly a joke if anyone honestly thinks we get a bonus for using the conduct code. The conduct code is supposed to be used to correct unaccepatble behaviour and only in a reasonable and justified occasions are staffed dismissed with rare exceptions.

Unfortunatley many staff are being taken down the conduct code for minor issues (my DOMs latest threat is to check everybody tyre pressure and if they are incorrect they'd be conducted or in his exact words 'you'll be out of a job before the Woolworths staff'redman wrote:This is total rubbish! Speaking of a rumour that is not a rumour but is fact as i saw an email that my old DOM had that sick stage warnings down in my part of London being issued had fallen below a certain % and that it had to be upped!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Truth or just rumour
Good point and there are some w*nkers that need culling! But its very funny how the office creeps and flyers get away with being sh*t because they take out the extra bundle for nothing are at the call of a lino when needed for O/T and come in early for NO pay. As a cover for five duties once, the worst one by far is still up their bums although (I) and presume RM had more complaints about him from the walk than i ever heard from the other four added together and has never been coded for sickness miss deliveries or the fact he is CR*P as a postie (even one of the supermarkets sacked him for being sh*t!) but still RM employ this person! Why? because he SUCKS up! Although one of the F/T posties who got sacked had the temerity to do his job properly so they found a reason to get rid of him for sickness. HEE HEE he got his job back with back pay. LOL. The disciplinary route is fine if used fairly but in our office it aint! Still glad it is in yours? Good luck were all gonna need it me thinks!

We do get a copy of the percentage of stage warnings issued, there is no target in my area, each Manager deals with them on merit.POSTMAN wrote:Chill,he did mention that it was only a rumour.redman wrote:This is total rubbish! Re: Truth or just rumour
This is stretching the truth since more and more RTU (Stage 3 attendance) are happening than ever before, many are not sacked due to the fact that managers are told to issue all warnings in order to make staff go through the stress of a stage 3 attendance interview. Yep bullying however it's a attendance "procedure" so not illegal to issue a stage warning even if it's not merited. We do get a copy of the percentage of stage warnings issued, there is no target in my area, each Manager deals with them on merit.
