You have my sympathy but what point are you trying to make here? We just deliver them. Its not entirely clear as to what you are trying to achieve by extending the issue. If you want it changed, you need to talk to those who can do that.

with respect , it can't be that hard to get the Editors e-mail address off a Newspaper's web site and send Steve Lawson's article over to them and/or the posts you've already made

Well said Norb. The phrase "over-egging the pudding" comes to mind.

M&M i understand where you're coming from and WHY you are doing it and i'm truly sorry for what has happened.
As run of the mill posties we can't do anything about what we deliver.

Hellmail seem to be on the case and and taking away my personal views on them i think they will get things pushed forward.

Good luck

It seems like the ideal way to do things, to me. It's common knowledge that we hate having to deliver Scam Mailings, but can't do anything about it yet. So who better to tell about the Petition than us?
We are also in the ideal position to share ideas, and contact information, to help the Campaign. This Post by Zebs, on PMC for example: http://postmanchat.com/forums/showthrea ... #post16235

Two thoughts that occured to me today. I wonder if the CWU magazine The Voice would be interested in doing an item on the campaign?

Unfortunately I don't get copies anymore. Maybe someone could pass on contact details (or a copy of the mag) to Marilyn (millie&mo)?

Also might be worthwhile the campaign writing to Alan Johnson MP - as former General Secretary of the CWU maybe he might be interested in supporting the campaign within the Government.

http://www.alanjohnson.org/contact.aspx

That's the sort of help that she needs. Advice on who to contact, to get help from within. :hmmmm

If nothing else, we can at least provide moral support. I for one, wouldn't have even known about this, unless Millie&Mo had brought it to my attention.

No-one likes scam mailings, but that's for the "powers-that-be" to sort out rather than DO staff.
Rather like the recent cases of BNP election literature, "we" can't say what can or cannot be handled.

That's precisely wy we need to get the Law changed. Whether we succeed or not, remains to be seen. But isn't it at least worth trying?

bnp are a recognised political party 'like it not' and as such not quite in the same frame as '''scum''' mailings mr teaman which are subject to no doubt restrictions somewhere but being ignored for profit by the companies mentioned in previous articles

[Sigh]
Read it again.
I never said the BNP was in any way equatable with the so-called scam postings, but that posties etc can't choose what to deliver.

'Ignored for profit' is a strong accustation but you have no proof of that. Its speculation at best and libel at worst. If people are dumb enough to accept an accusation on face value then it says much for their ability, or lack of, to think outside of the crowd or beyond page 3 of the Sun. Entertaining though.

You forget Agent Yorkie works in the murky world of espionage, and he probably knows things undreamt of by the rest of us RM staff.

If he says "ignored for profit" then it's likely true.

Or secret code for " I have a wild idea which makes it appear I know something of what I'm talking about" :hmmmm

You think Spring Global Mail send these scam mailings out for free ? I dont think so.
They are doing it "for profit".
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

Few can't read either. The implication is that Spring Global are sending scam mail for profit. Thats an assumption. No facts, no evidence.
