They wanted van shares in my office but they wanted the rurals to share vans (5-6 hours) and whenever the area manager heard, he withdrew the whole revision. :hmmmm So now we're waiting for the new revision to start.

Does anyone have a problem with the concept of van share/starburst/ park and loop or any other name this idea goes under or is it simply that the planning is skew wiff?

Is there such a thing as a national agreement anymore......i thought our top union officials agreed with management that changes are now dealt with as local issues to end our last industrial action......seems now they can implement anything they want.......the dom in our office has said he would rip up the pegasus revision and leave our office as it is as long as those who take V.R or leave are only replaced with part time contracts

Royal Mail don't do trials anymore otherwise they'd know that these plans don't work, I've been out with another in a van (2 doing 1 duty) but it doesn't take half the time (it does save some time but not 50%) so how are 2 5/6 hours duties going to make it work. :hmmmm

Precisely that. The problem of course is that adding packets, firms and specials takes time, not only in delivering but in loading and unloading. Most of ours are leaving packets in and they have to be done on overtime. The news today though is that despite the problems - and there are problems, the situation is to remain the same. We are now going for a repick - because many people were displaced from their duty in order to have two full timers on each P&L. One of the biggest laughs is that some of the park and loopers are still using their private vehicle which totally negates the concept and increases the transport cost. We actually lost 7 duties but NO personnel who have been moved on to other duties.

So in summary we have 9 more vehicles with attendant costs, no loss of personnel and overtime increased and THAT is a saving? Well it's no bloody wonder we're in s**t street.

Totally agree, can't really put my finger on it but on the very odd occassion I've had someone out with me it saves a little time but it's not half. Totally unclear from managment where the time to do the packets is going to come from. Only thing I can think of is the non driving partner will have to take a little more of the drivers run in order to free the driver up to do the packets, fine on a quiet day but most days won;t work. Also what happens if the driver wants to do overtime to clear the packets, will royal mail pay 2 lots of overtime ?

We have an office of near 120, they are getting 40 odd new vans- costing money, insurance tax fuel etc, and god only knows what effect this will have on the earths carbon footprint (my green policy comin out lol)

I hoped i get a chance to leave, but in the last few months, the job situation has went tits up too - so who knows.

I only wish the public really knew what was going on.

I didn't realise I was quite so close to the top echelon - only 13 tiers - how come I don't get more money, or bonuses or invites to Buck House, medals are okay but an MBE would be nice - course so would a piece of nice frying steak and I can't afford that either.
