I JUST wonder how many people missed out for the second year running by using the Scouts to deliver Christmas cards.

Although the Scouting Service operates a much cheaper service to deliver cards, in some cases it failed to do so.

This is in contrast to our resolute postmen and women, who brave the elements daily to deliver the mail.

While giving praise to postal workers, I cannot do the same for their bosses.

It has already been stated that from April 2009 there will be an increase in both domestic and foreign postal rates.

Shame on Royal Mail! Once this country led the way with a cheap, reliable service which was the envy of the world.

Does the forthcoming increase in postal rates, especially for mail posted to overseas, meet the criteria of the UPU (Universal Postal Union)?

Until the credit crunch issue passes, the Royal Mail should continue at the same normal price policy.

Perhaps if we had a sensible pricing system we too could help the old lady rather than big business - we should have pricing in proportion BUT not by size but by quantity - the more you post the more you pay, that way we could manage a price decrease for Granny - in fact we could have a Granny service. Over 60s rates on Wednesdays, free post for octagenarians..............
