Didnt get the walks I applied for

Post by fit2drop »

Five or six walks up for grabs in my office. Didnt get any of them. Three years with RM in an office of approx 170. Bit pissed off about it. How long did everyone else have to wait and how big is your office?

I got mine after about a year - but it is one of the worst in the office, bad estate with stabbings and burning cars a regular thing, and I was the only one who applied for it. Even though its a bad walk its still way better than being a reserve and not knowing where you will be from day to day.

3yrs service and in an office with around 170 bods you're not gonna get much to be honest.
You're just gonna have to hold tight and probably do what tbt has done.
I missed out on the one i wanted when sdd came in,took the next best option rdc.
Have a look at About your Office.
Are you a reserve or summin, then if you are my commiserations, being a reserve is pants, especially in an office that's as big as yours.

When i first started i was on one of the worst walks in the office, it was a little bit different in those days as we done 2 deliverys but i had a nice GP but a s--t irish  .I was lucky as after a year i then done driving duties, but again done the worst one available.I stayed on driving for about another 5 years then went back on to a walk,by now i was 9 years in the job and was getting a decent walk, alot had to do with a high turnover of staff etc.ive now been on the same walk as good as for 12 years(longest in our office) which is due to my seniority(21 years) :Very Happy and can only say to you we have all been there and put up with the crap, things will get better for you in time :dance

Im a day out cover in subs but walks in main office are very rarely displayed in subs. I did have a walk in main office for a short time but (stupidly I admit) went back to subs day out cover as I couldnt cope with 4:30am start times but with impeding moving of start times I wanted walk in main office. The walk I got was a year ago and the only one advertised and a year later 5 or 6 up for grabs and I didnt get any. Just seems odd. I am certain that there are people in main office with less seniority than me with thier own walks simply due to this lack of advertising in subs. Where are you based Trueblue? sounds like a right hell hole :-)

If those 5-6 walks have been taken then i presume there's 5-6 walks now vacant,or at least 5-6 Dutys vacant.
It's like a dominio effect so those walk/dutys should now go up,you've just got to keep your eye open and ask around.

Checked them out today. One fab walk, plenty of big houses and no dog s**t. One average walk, and two that make Baghdad look like quiet suburbs. Applied for all but guess which I hope I get.

Dunno if the same terms are used in all office's but i started on a part-time town round then moved to a utility round eventually to full-time town floater which i liked but i got bumped onto the reserve not so long ago i don't mind it but have lost the rotating day of cos of this. at the mo i can't see me doing one round all the time it would do my head in same thing day in day out.

Right i think Everyone should be a reserve for a set time and learn all the walks in a office. Then your sorting is up to scratch and makes knowledge the watch word,,, Hold up im not a SCREW =GUVNOR.. But i was a Walks trainer in my old office as i knew all the 75 walks in .. Over the time i (taught/ Dodged real work) I was fed up with after 2 weeks training some bods on walks they wernt gonna pick it up!! Shame but true, But RM in there wisdom kept the ppl on!! Thru a big turn over in new entrants.. I think WE and RM have moved the bar far to low with BRAINDEAD non Reading people with smelly breath, bad teeth n by the name of!!!!!! WHOOOOOOOHHH! Getting personal :no no !!! Well you know every office has em!! The real point is,, Quality, not quantity!! Then The Union, RM and everyone can have a service 2 be proud of again, Not to mention The pay RM offer!! Well if we can hold em down the slippery gits!! :pray .. Companys like TNT, Krautpost n Man in the white van r nicking OUR O/T. Lets not give people a choice and prove we are the best as always before!!! RM are crapping themselves, :no no Y? No one else can deliver 2 all the doorsteps in Britain!! If Postcom want 2 screw US then lets fight em!! Dont subscribe to the political party that CWU give OUR £££££ to.. The Guv might then do something, SOD EUROPEAN LAW AND anyone else who wants a row??? Im sorry for my rants!!! I dont get out much!! Walk training et all.. :dance  Now wheres my old delivery pouch??? :whistle :Boo hoo! :Boo hoo! OUT...

DONT LET THE BASTARDS GRIND YOU DOWN..

Fooking bust!! Someone else got one walk, the rich area one is a driving duty and is 'up for review' due to new driving regs (whatever management bolloxspeek that is) and Baghdad and son of Baghdad are suddenly delivery only walks and as I am full time thats no good to me. Might have to reconsider my employment options!
