Being Part Time 8yrs now..

Post by P739 »

I have been a part timer for 8 years long enough in anybodies books..I was told by my line manager that in the new year all 26 hour contracts are getting made up to 32 hrs and the 32 hrs getting made up to full time...I will believe it when i see it anybody else heard like wise.

I've heard that as a carrot to all part- timers they are going to offer full time if they accept a 4 hour fifteen delivery span, what they aren't saying is if the offer of full time is going to be a proper full time contract. Until there's a senoir change in management I can't see them offering full time contracts unless they are the tempoary full time contracts they have used in the past which are pretty useless ( go on holiday or off sick & you drop back to your 25 or 30 hour contract you were on ). If they can get the bulk of part timers to accept the longer delivery span then I suppose that makes it harder for others to resist it becoming the norm.

I normally do rurals which can be anything from 4 1/2 to 6 hours but I have a van so that I don't have to carry large weights around and you always have somewhere to sit and have a rest for a few minutes.

Tell 'em to get rooted - AFAIK the union & RM have agreed a 3.5 hr delivery span for towns and 4hrs for rurals ( the extra half hour is to cover the extra travelling time ).......would you accept a FT contract if RM told you you had to fill your pouch to 20kgs? If you had to use your car to start your delivery and carry all your extra pouches? If you had to start an hour early and work through your meal relief without getting paid for it? If you had to work at the beck and call of your manager....even having to go to work on a day off, or on A/L just because someone has gone sick & the manager doesn't want to pay out pressure OT?

Make no mistake, letting RM think they can sneak this one in by the back door with bribery, will make them think they can try sneaking anything in by any means ( and if subsequent ideas don't get in first time, they will keep on trying ).
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?
