Redundancies

Post by anthonyok »

What is the post office policy on this ,for instance is it last in first out,or by value to your office, i know one walk and one van/rural,some people trained after me have been taught 3 or 4 lesser rounds, thus on paper more use perhaps.
Anyhow there might be or might not be redundancies where i work just liked to know the procedure,by the way no sick/lateness or absentnes in the 18 months i,ve worked,
Cheers! and a happy new year to all!!

we had a form come round asking if anyone was interested in VOLUNTARY redundancy, the deal is apparently quite good and several have gone for it, around 8 I think. I have not heard anything about anyone being made redundant unwillingly.

We don't have enough staff to cover all the work, so I don't suppose redundancies will be offered.

Bottom line I would get £25,200 for 21 years service pretty good considering, I would not consider yet as I would need to find another job and with the way things are going at mo Jobs are a bit thin on the ground right now.

and that's what RM wanted rid of prior to the strike - to be replaced by a commercial but sensitive :left: way of getting rid of people
MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.

At my office RM is looking for a minimum of 18 reduncancies out of about 120 staff. Proposals are there for later starts and getting rid of about 18 walks. To my surprise the union seems to be accepting this without too much objection although they are of course questioning the feasability of the plan. Is it that it is inevitable so there's not much point in objecting strongly?

Hey Yokel,

How do they get rid of eighteen walks when all walks should adhere to the three and half (okay try not to laugh) delivery span.

Here is pegasus implementation plan as perceived by management. This is the procedure used by them to ascertain a target for delivery savings. :Very Happy :left:

The deliveries will all end up at 5-6 hours :d'oh! Rurals do that now, so I guess they'll want the towns to convert to rural status

which begs the question... what happened to all those 'joint working groups', set up after the dispute, which were to look at all the unresolved issues ? One of the joint working groups was supposed to be looking at (note the wording) 'how best to implement monthly pay' (not whether to have monthly pay, but HOW to). Are these issues, like the MTSF agreement and monthly pay, going to form part of RM's April 2009 pay offer, I wonder ?
