I wonder if anyone has asked the Queen what she thinks about the future of Royal Mail and whether any opinion of hers would count.

They stopped using the yellow stripe at the request of B Hayes & D Ward because it kept reminding them of the the yellow running down their spines. :nana

ImageNo not him. Apparently there is a Pink Royal Mail vehicle somewhere being drive by a female postie to mark Breast Cancer Awareness - I think I saw something in the courier.

Next will be the Royal EIIR cipher
Scottish Royal Mail vans carry the Scottish Crown (without 'E II R').

A good question in all seriousness. However, as we operate under a constitutional monarchy and an elected democracy, the Queen as head of state is not allowed by law to comment on any matters that either fall under the purview of her elected representatives or comment on anything of a political nature. Therefore I don't think we will really hear what she thinks until she dies and they release her private papers under the 10, 25 or 50 year rule.

I have heard that they had been touted as "go faster stripes", they didn't work and so they have been discontinued.
this is an old picture - found it on http://www.flickr.com/

It's by " Lady Wolfrun " her pictures are clear , well scanned and edited - apparently she worked on the buses - seems very anoraky to me - a bus is a bus to me , but old pictures of streets , people , fashions , styles etc are interesting .

Probably loads of pictures if you just type Royal Mail in search on Flickr -

I'd imagine there's a few people who would like a certain " big - boned " union official to be put on the first train back there ? :left:

I only ask as we use her name .
Also as Royal Mail is so old there are probably some ancient laws that still apply that may be used to protect us from privatisation, surely worth someone to do some digging?.

I've already mentioned on here that it is currently unlawful to privatise Royal Mail. It was labour who brought in the Postal Services Act 2000, which enshrined Royal Mail in law as a government-owned company. All shares are held by the Trade Security. (peter mandelson owns RM) One special share is held by the Treasury Solicitor.

It's precisely why Mandelson now has to introduce NEW legislation to unbreak their election pledge and reverse a price if legislation. It makes me sick.

They won't get away with it though.
