Improving the Royal Mail's service
Sir, If the Royal Mail really wants to save money, in order to keep local post offices and services open, surely the simple thing to do is require all householders to provide a mailbox at the edge of their property rather than at their front door. This would at a stroke halve the number of postmen required to deliver the mail (at the required 4mph).
This would be politically difficult to implement, but which is more important: to preserve the Royal Mail and local post office services, or to privatise them and lose a valuable part of the British culture?
Kenneth Williams
Richmond, Surrey
Sir, I think I know why Royal Mail is in trouble. This morning we received 13 Christmas cards, and five of the stamps were not franked. It may shock your readers to know that there are people of such profound moral depravity that they peel off the stamps and use them again. I must say these self-adhesive ones do make it a lot easier. Royal Mail could be losing billions through its own neglect.

You would have to make the boxes tamper proof and a major crime to interfere with it.
In the USA it is a Federal Offence to interfere with the Boxes and you can go to a Federal penitary for it.

MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.

Re: Delivering service
I bet their maths is sh*t hot if their giro is a few bob short - some of them could make Carol Vorderman look like an innumerate slacker when it comes to sponging......oops, sorry for any offence, I meant to say "claiming legally entitled benefits payments"norbert wrote:they probably could be taught to count to 8 or 12 with their fingers in some areasLounge Lizard wrote:but that's because the residents can't count up to ten.janitor wrote:Get real , people putting mail boxes on the edge of their property, most can't even be bothered to put numbers on their houses, one street i was delivering parcels to had ten houses in a row without numbers.
