As a unit H & s rep got to tell ya wear the shoes or boots a mate of mine who uses this site can confirm ,had an accident and was of work for some cosiderable time. At his interview was asked if he was wearing RM shoes or boots he said no and promptly lost all cliam for compensation so be it at your own peral if you do not wear the right foot wear the only way around it is to see the RM nurse or get a doctors note

think theres a new supplier & the stuff comes through quicker - saw a guy using redirection bags as socks today as he'd got a hole in his shoe, what a kn*b

We have had problems with staff wearing trainers especially in the winter ie.slips trips.

Royal Mail Shoes are risked assessed for the job in hand,wearing other footwear will if you have an accident reduce any
possible Legal & Medical Claim against Royal Mail.

Your Line Manager must supply you with the agreed footwear if he does not then contact your CWU Unit Rep

Most of us wear trainers although a lot of them have steel toe caps a must if you are on a 600, bay work or using a pump truck, saying that i did clock one of our drivers last year wearing flip flops

Not sure if it's a nationwide thing but when we buy trainers/shoe/boots we bring the receipt in and get up to Â£31 payed back in our wages.

Well, I think that my manager suggested once that it didn't matter so much about the colour, etc as long as they had decent grip and complied with Health and Safety requirements. I would guess that the grey area about this will remain until someone has an accident wearing their trainers and RM refuse to take responsibilty...

i was wearing white all the time nike air force 1's til i switched to a nifty black pair of air force 1's but i will be wearing white soon i love white trainers cos they look the nuts and just cos it pisses the screws off and what does it matter what colour they are anyway i think those red polo shirts look more chav than white trainers

you have to wear issue shoes unless you have a doctors note then you can buy your own footwear bring them in for your manager to inspect if they approve you will then get up to Â£30 paid back,they should be black or a dark colour if your gaffer dont like them then you wont get paid,beware every now and again there will be a crack down on footwear and action will be taken if you do not fit in with expectations but these things never last for long

Its Royal Mail playing the health and safety game again. If the footwear they provide is not suitable they are supposed to give you an allowance towards suitable, comfortable footwear. The problem is I know nobody that has received any money from RM for this. I hope somebody can enlighten us on this.
