1 hour contract, am i entitled to holiday pay?

How many 1 hour contracts do you think there are? This is the first one I've heard about at RM. I know it's a 1 hour contract and there are far more hours worked but that is also true for many of the other part time contracts - how long before someone actually works out how many full time employees all the part time contracts equates to and how many hours overtime equates to a number of full time employees.

Your holiday entitlement will just be based on your 1 hour contract. The problem is, if your holiday entitlement is worked out on the amount of days you work you will be better off.

One hour contracts should not be allowed, it is an insult and another way of getting around not paying the national minimum wage and I hope that the hourly rate for these 1 hour contracts is more that the national minimum rate

How did it get passed by the Rep? There's supposed to be an agreement when contracts are handed out and any savings made are put into the pot for the 50/50 share. So any overspend above the 1 hour is presumably wiped off any savings?

im ny office their are 5 1 hour contractors in another local office i have had to temporarily move to in the past due to lack of hours they have 4 so at least in my area it is quite common.

This is a copy of an extract from the agreement but I don't know if it has been superceded but I used it last year:

5 JOB DESCRIPTION
Every job will have its own Job Description, which must contain the following features:

• The work areas(s) that the duty relates to.

• Employee start/finish times per day and time of transfer from one work area to another, where an employee is working in more than one work area.

• Starting Activity (so that employees know what task to start on when they move into a Work Area.)

• Full range of activities throughout the shift

• Performance Standards, which incorporate Appropriate Relaxation Allowances

• Total attendance time [gross]

• Meal Relief times to ensure that the agreed Royal Mail standards are applied across the Business

• The Duty Number

• The date of the last amendment

Presumably that would hold true for any contract be it 1 hour or 20 hours - though exactly how you would divide the hour up I wouldn't know. Rather than involving outside parties I would involve the union, if you aren't too happy with the local rep then write to HQ. They should know how you stand in all circumstances.

depends upon where you work and how long and age if you have worked over a year it would imply you receive full standard pay!.
