It's got nothing to do with whether you are snobbish or not. It is the fact that people are accusing us of being thick, for doing our Job. And incapable of doing anything else. Personally, I find that very insulting. Don't you?Tman wrote:I dunno, you boys, eh?
Ultimately, this is just a debating shop, a talking forum, and nothing more, so why do you lot these things get to you? Haven't you noticed the way letters pages in papers like to print different/controversial letters to stimulate debate? Ever considered why they do that?
NT is right, in that without different points of view, RMC would revert to how it was some time back, when it was purely pages of :mfo :mfo :mfo from the same old faces (now apparently departed) which neither looks good to the casual passers-by, or makes good reading for the regulars.
So, to continue the thread, whether you, your mate, the bloke in the registered cage or the canteen girl think/claim/wannabe anything from airline pilots to micro-surgeons is (unfortunately) irrelevant, because RM classes us as the grades we are because of the job we do, and that's that. Life's hard, ain't it, but there ARE no "yeah buts" and that's the bottom line.
Whether good old TBT thinks that's a snobbish attitude or not is up to him,(though as ex-military he should be used to that) but it doesn't change anything. Look at the wage slip; that's what you're worth to RM, and if you really don't like it or think you're worth more, then do something about it.
As the old maxim goes if it "walks like a duck, quacks like a duck.........etc etc".

why not address some of my points Mr NT ? and i agree with Andy i find some of your posts along with Mr Tman very condescending. i have had many jobs including over 8 years serving Queen and Country. life does not always pan out as you would like it and as you get older it is far more difficult to chop and change jobs because of your age and other responsibilities.Night Tonic wrote:If moderating sees the back of Tman then this place would shrivel up like a prune. We'd end up with thousands of threads, if there isn't enough already, of what people would like to do with Crozier. Talk is cheap and if you don't have faith in the union, government or RM bosses then its already over and theres nothing left to talk about.
And Borders, if you're not comfortable with my posts or opinion, then find a comfier chair.

with certain MP's you have to check if they've voted with or against the Labour Party whip , depends if they want a career in the PLP or to be a jobbing back bencher or could lose a marginal election - They work for us site is a good sourceNight Tonic wrote:As always Labour MPs will vote with the party come any vote of confidence. No. The quote was something like "have you seen some RM staff recently" and referred to certain types of employees now seen in MCs. Bottom of the barrel and all that?It is the fact that people are accusing us of being thick, for doing our Job. And incapable of doing anything else. Personally, I find that very insulting. Not really thinking of long-time DO staff here, although that's how you seem to take it unfortunately, but whether any employee is clever enough or determined enough to do another job is beside the point. We're all judged by what we currently do rather than what we'd like to do, or used to do.

Wasn't that a tactic employed by that nice Mr Beria?
Do you come from Scunthorpe, by any chance?
Nice to see the Invisible Man still carping on about volumes though. He's obviously unsure......

Nothing Pythonesque about Lawrenti Beria. He was real enough, unfortunately.

But why judge people on the job they do that's crazy and creates division. Its not the job that should be judged but the character of the person doing the job, that's why I and others reacted to what you posted. You judged people on the fact that they worked in an MC or worked for Royal Mail and I think that is plain wrong.Tman wrote:No. The quote was something like "have you seen some RM staff recently" and referred to certain types of employees now seen in MCs. Thieves are lower than low, Fund Raisers should be applauded, Political Activists are usually dedicated, and all these types of individuals work within the Royal Mail why should we judge everyone based on the actions of 1 person be it good or bad.

29 March 1899 – 23 December 1953) was a Soviet politician, and chief of the Soviet security and secret police apparatus under Stalin. He was top deputy of the NKVD during the Great Purge, responsible for many of the millions of imprisonments and killings. Then at the end of the Purge, he became head of the NKVD, and carried out a purge of the NKVD itself. Beria was most influential during and after World War II, and immediately after Stalin's death in 1953, when as First Deputy Prime Minister he carried out a brief campaign of liberalization. However, in that same year he was arrested and executed by his political rivals. He claimed to have poisoned Stalin using warfarin, a powerful rat poison, according to Molotov.
Liberalisation did not work for him yet BlueLabour tried it again

All forums need a Tman, he can be a bit brusque but his points make you think, and even if like me you don't agree with them, they are good for debate and getting peoples different views, and at this time of year, at Xmas and pantomime season we all need a villain
