Sacked for Christmas
I've never liked those HCTs, if you've that much post then maybe a van would be better, infact I think everyone should have a van (it will be neccessary if packets keep rising the way they have been).

Do you think that a small piece of chain would stop a thief? Anyway, the manager probably didn't give any out because he didn't have any but said 'It will be OK'seeker019 wrote:Thought you had to chain them to something to stop theft

HCTs are fine for heavy residential deliveries. I use one myself. Like any mode of delivery you need to be aware of security issues. If you are away from it for more than a minute you really need to chain it up. I dont like the new electric one though, far too heavy, doubt if they will pass trials tbh.

I was meant to trial one of them (but it didn't happen) and I asked my rep about this very thing. He had brought it up with the DOM and had been told that as they were designed to RM's specifications if it was broken into it would not be the postie's fault.
The ones that we had were all operated by a key, without it, the bloody thing wouldn't move so there was no need for a chain.
