You say leave out the juvinile comments then in the same sentance some of you come back with exactly that. Look at the end of the day I'm with you on the fight to keep RM fully public. The mail centre closures do make proper business sense it might not seem logical to sort mail at out of town centres with better transport access but it is. If eveyones mail where to be sorted in their own town RM would be (is) grossly inefficient. We know this because of the profit margins / efficiencies of other postal operators. I don't agree with everything in the hooper review but for him to suggest up to half of MCs should close says something about how little RM has come. I've never heard of a postie being forcibly layer-off. And no, I don't want to come back couldn't accept the drop in salary.
If it the mail were not sorted in the local area what time would you expect delivery does not make a hill of bean's unless you happen to own a small business which employs one third of the uk workforce i suspect you only care about your for-ma pension and not of those who chose to fight for the service or the staff and their future and thier pension right's!.
the TNT etc way is to do all the mail for one area one day - then do another the next - I'm not saying it's right but that's how they economize especially with 12 hr shifts and low hours contracts .

In the States it's only three times a week.

I do know a bit about distribution and most of RM's stuff is slowed down by putting too much through NDC Daventry e.g. they'll send bags by plane from the Isle of Man send it to East Mids but it'd be slowed down going through NDC and then having to go up the M6 - in reality it'd be faster to send those bags to Speke
The same goes for London to up north - the bags would have got up north quicker in 1908 with steam trains .

I've a feeling it'd get worse !

RM cutting costs don't work - the wagons can only do 56 / 60 mph - it'd be better to put more mail on trains and ASLEF & the RMT would back the CWU up as it gets them work .
EWS lost the contract and the old sleeping car carriages that could have been gutted out for mail storeage according to the Railway lads that I know could have been used for whizzing mail down main lines at 125 mph .

The super- centre could ? work if thought through properly by people who understand logistics :left: but my experience of RM is just badly geared despatches , p**s poor planning , panic and piece meal introduction .

Apparently the plan is to pay up drivers , put more mail on trains and use agency staff to drive the remaining wagons .
MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.

In the comments on the Guardian's blog article, there's a contributor from Holland who says it
takes four days for TNT to deliver mail. Apparently they wait until they have enough to fill the
lorry before despatching it.

There are many, very well qualified Posties
.

Yeah, I've heard that too, many times. "I'm a brickie/plumber/sparks/mechanic, I am" they say, and the standard reply is, "course you are mate, and that's why you're a postie now. Were you crap at it, or just a bull-shi***r?"

So we would be just as capable of getting a better paid job as you are. But we actually WANT to help to provide an important service to the Public.
Come off it Andy, we're all here for the money.
So why do you think that a lot of us wouldn't be able to get a job outside of RM?
Err, have you looked at some of the RM staff recently?
I don't actually know many "White Van Men", so I can't be sure what type of qualifications they tend to have. But why do you assume that they aren't inteligent?
I'm quite sure that they would be deeply ofended by your insinuation.
As a genre, I think we can be fairly sure they don't emanate from leafy stock-broker belts in the Home Counties, and I doubt education was a high priority in the White Van driver interview....

You really don't like posties - that's obvious from the way you look down on them in just this one part of your post. You are I am afraid T'Man one of those people I try not to dislike but end up hating with a passion. You are a snob, who looks down on people who get enjoyment from providing a service, you think you are better than us and you generalise so much its painful. Worst of all you appear very close minded and unwilling to accept others points of views. I have to say if I was not a moderator I would add you as a foe and blank all your posts so that my blood pressure would not rise. However, as we try to promote free speech on here I have to let your posts ride even though I disagree with at least 75% of them.

The thing is I think you actually wonder why most of the active members on here dislike and dismiss your posts and views yet all you have to do is read the line I quoted above and realise how it would be read by a board full of posties.

These comments of course only my personal views and not those of any other Admin or Moderator on here, perhaps your Modus Operandi of posting on here may change and I sincerely hope they do.

dare say if he had the balls to say what he does on here to the posties in his office at face level then he'd not reach pension age

i frequently engage with people who are stations above you they do not look down at anyone in fact they are only to glad to talk with cleaners etc.. as they are all to often talking at levels you'd not understand . and teaman i think you'd be suprised at some who do work for royal fail in mediocre roles as they had no wish perhaps even a little aprehension about taking a job in lets say education or other lucrative roles etc.. perhaps your quite jelous of these posties perhaps you did not have the right education to persue your ideal vocation so you could look futher down your nose at them :no no

I feel sorry for you Teebs, the only time I ever see any of Tmans posts are when people quote them  and that's the way I'll keep it until he stops flaming everyone and generally being an agent provocateur (visions on him in womens underware :Sick ).

Disagree - Tman keeps this place alive. As I've said before it would just be a whinge room for grumpy old men otherwise and nowt to look forward to except the end of the thread. He's like a bright candle in a darkened room. A ray of hope amongst many an otherwise outspoken but generally downbeat collection of posts, many of which go round in circles anyway.

Tman does nothing for this site, whilst yourself and Fossiebear make some good points, he does nothing but insult others (while showing a lack of understanding for everything) and brings nothing to any argument.
