A WOMAN was surprised by the "efficiency" of the postal service when she went to send a letter.

Carole Scullion, of Station Road, Fulbourn, posted a letter in a post box in Wilbraham Road.

She was amused to find the sign showing the next collection time had been flipped to show "NOW" instead of "MON", indicating Monday.

Mrs Scullion said: "I thought they will be waiting to take my letter the very moment I drop it in the box.

"All things considered the Royal Mail does a good job. It just struck me as amusing."

A spokeswoman from Royal Mail said: "It is a very busy time of year and the postmen and women are working flat out so one of them must have just put the tab upside down.

"I am sure people would understand what had happened."

eople hoping Christmas cards will arrive in time for the big day need to act now.

Today is the last chance to send UK First Class mail guaranteed to arrive for Christmas.

The last collection for UK Special Delivery mail is on Tuesday.

A normal delivery and collection service will run from Saturday, December 27, to Wednesday, December 31 and resume on Friday, January 2.
