Hadn't thought of that Captain Scarlett. It would be nice if you can get your final salary back. At least for those of you that signed up to the deal when you joined the organisation anyway.

i was at the meeting in London when the RMT disaffliated from the Labour party. Bob Crow gave a great speech and he hoped other Unions would do the same. its a yes vote for me.

Stephen Byers saw the CWU as a barrier to any split up of RM so he was instrumental in bringing in :lfo with his Walmart trade union avoidance experience .

New Labour are just more subtle and devious about things . Look how bitter twice resigned :mfo is , :mfo is also a very dangerous person , not to be underestimated , he is despised by a lot of people in Politics but Brown has brought him back for a reason , to avoid losing an election to Cameron .

don't take this all wrong but there's been bad blood between the NUR/RMT and the PLP for years , to play devil's advocate the PLP could also say " well good riddance to them ".

With the CWU now , Billy Hayes can't play the " it's not exactly what we want , but it's something we need ( influence within the PLP ) or Plan B - " the perennial motion and you are all just a bunch of raving loony trots or tankies for asking for disaffiliation "

Personally I think the CWU have been outflanked by Hooper and :mfo - :mfo 's game is a rescue bid ( as they've cocked up a lot ) to try and win an election in 2010

If you disaffiliate you have to play the Political game a lot better - Unison arguably do that fairly well - rather than rely on a political party to do it for you . I have to ask which party the CWU would plan to affiliate with , it would be silly going for a far left party - just playing devil's advocate !

Why affiliate with any party? Millions of pounds of 'our' money given to this bunch of slime balls only to be kicked in the teeth. A once great service brought to its knees by a 'Labour' government and a management intent on privatisation, and lining its own pockets. Mind you, there could be a Labour back-bench rebellion

With the two other main parties supporting some form of privatisation, I would be surprised if this doesn't go through.
Bring on the Tories, at least you know what they stand for!

Like a few of my esteemed and learned colleagues and now classed as one of the grey-haired brigade, I have in the past supported Labour through WILSON, FOOT, KINNOCK, SMITH & BLAIR. Even gave BROWN the benefit of the doubt, however, enough is enough, totally disenfranchised with New Labour or BROONS Labour. My vote goes for the CWU to disaffiliate from the Party forthwith and I say that as a life long Labour supporter with a saddened heart.
