Posties expect everything on a plate, c'mon get a second-hand car and get a few mates to chip in, problem solved and you carry on working for the company you love... If you dont like it leave chaps.
Why did you leave then - did you run or were you pushed - and as for a 50 mile commute if you enjoy it become a white van man.
I left because i got my qualifications at college, and then f****d off out of there, i've now got a decent job with decent benefits basic pay is 19k a yr, 9-5 fri finish at 3pm. No weekend working.
and why would i become white van man? im too intelligent for that!
Everybodies got a choice in life, some people are happy working for RM, alot it has to be said could never get a job outside of RM. Regarding the mail centre closures, Royal Mail will not change its mind over this, it doesn't matter who you get onside.

You cant say they wont change their mind for sure. Alot has happened in the past week, you know. They backtracked on later starts and starburst.
Quote "We will work with the CWU and all change will be negotiated" Pay and modenization agreement 2007!. Well a lot has changed in the 13 months since this agreement and if management don't wish to negotiate then stike's are our only option to defend our right's under the so called agreement which royalmail signed up too as well as the CWU!. It's a bit rich from you to say if you don't like it find another job it's like saying if i want to rob a post office don't a oppose me or you only have yourself too blame if you get shot!. Well judging the economic situation you will soon find yourself back at ROYALMAIL in reduced term's and condition's as many other's have found themself's!.

No chance, i work for the military, they dont feel recessions.......
I sense you're trying to provoke 'em NT.
You'll only get another chorus of the old "You're a wannabe boss" song...
Things will change when it's Jan and Hans in charge. No Net bleating then....

Wow 19k a year basic (is that salaried?) and qualified(?) the world is your oyster, and work for the military too - does the salvation army count as military though?
Lots of my colleagues didn't work for the military, they were military and many were actually made redundant so hold on to your kepi big boy McDonald's love qualified people - practice this diligently and you make get 5 Gold stars - "would you like fries with that sir"

lol.
Thats my starting pay (37hr week) and goes up after 6 months. Beyond that annual pay rises every yr. Some posties earn more than this in a year with OT, yes- you can afford a car so stop moaning.
PS are you bitter or something that you havn't managed to get a proper career because you sound like it.

Well if you're still there after six months that is - we get annual pay rises too - do you mean incremental pay rises(?) because if it's a percentage then you know the old adage 2% of ....... . Now let me see would I like a proper career hmmmm - not really I'm too old - but as for pay well I certainly envy you - if only I had had the capacity to earn on that scale during my long and varied working life

Cant see any reason why i wouldn't be there after 6 months. Dont forget the private sector allows you to earn alot more money and progress into different areas of the company. With Royal Mail its a shame that they only really have OPG for most workers, there is no oppurtunity to progress onto another payscale unless you go into dreaded management. Generally it is monkey work at RM. And how come they dont pay more for driving duties?
Yes its yearly pay rises i.e. 2-3% which is fine by me! Im only 24 so got my whole life in front of me. £19k seems a pretty good wage to start on, although i've lost track of F/T salary for posties now (17/18k)??
Alot of posties earn well into the 20,s lets put it that way, but then im working in a warm office sat on my arse all day.........
'fmr postie' why so much intrest in the 'job' if i was working elsewhere i'd not be tuneing in to a web site forum iv'e got nothing in common with or is your intent to stir it up a little if it is it's a sad, sad world you live in
oh and people i know working for the ministry of defence earn a tad more than your likely to see so keep your knee pads on

What has inteligence got to do with your choice of job?
There are many, very well qualified Posties. So we would be just as capable of getting a better paid job as you are. But we actually WANT to help to provide an important service to the Public.
So why do you think that a lot of us wouldn't be able to get a job outside of RM?
I don't actually know many "White Van Men", so I can't be sure what type of qualifications they tend to have. But why do you assume that they aren't inteligent?
I'm quite sure that they would be deeply ofended by your insinuation.
Don't knock Insanity
it's just another outlook on Reality!
