Finished in the dark @ 16:45 - still huge amounts of walksort (4 packed perstrop trays) plus all the handsorted cards and flats. Unbelievable amounts of small packets but only 2 recorded items which I was quite surprised at.
Customers very sympathetic to our difficult conditions and pleased that the posties are still providing a service even if Royal Mail don't want to .
Quite a few yorks of live mail left untouched this morning and we still didn't get off IPS until just before 08:00.
For some reason (and we all really know what it is) management refuse to listen to the voices of experience when we get into busy periods. They have the attention span of goldfish - every year the staff know what is coming but the managers seem to have completely forgotten the lessons of the previous year and stubbornly hold on to the mistaken belief that we can cope with a reduced workforce and without spending any of their bonus spinning budget.
We all know that RM has no ideas of it's own - only what computers tell it and we also know that if you put s**t into a computer - you get s**t out.
For all our sakes and particularly the people who our business is all about - THE CUSTOMERS - listen to your experienced staff and stop running around like headless chickens (thinks: how do headless chickens manage to drink coffee)

Saturday was really bad. Stuff held back, and the weather was crap. Monday, absolutely horrendous.

For a pre last posting Xmas Wednesday it was remarkably quiet, I wonder if they are holding stuff back to make sure we will be working hard on Friday when some of our MC colleagues are on the cobbles.

I was off today but my post lass was here at ten so it's another quiet day there. Been very quiet for chrimbo but I think it's cos people haven't realised that it's only 6 days away. Wouldn't surprise me if they're willfully delaying the mail though so we've got something to do on Friday. I expect to get hammered the rest of the week . Need some bats for my torchTrueBlueTerrier wrote:For a pre last posting Xmas Wednesday it was remarkably quiet, I wonder if they are holding stuff back to make sure we will be working hard on Friday when some of our MC colleagues are on the cobbles.

Busier than yesterday, but not as bad as Monday, mail wise. Packets were absolutely horrendous, but managed to get rid of 6 recorded deliveries and all but 3 of my ordinary packets, so chuffed at that for the time of year. Weather was ok. Just wondering what the strike action may do to us over the next few days.

One of these days the Christmas mail and packets will arrive....then ,................................
KAAAABBOOOOOOOOOM. Our DO will collapse
Things really have been quieter than you'd expect. No evening deliveries or Sunday working has been required. As far as i can see all the packets were finished by 2pm today

Horrendous day weatherwise and mail wise but my customers are delighted - they think they are getting early deliveries when they come downstairs in the morning to find cards under the letterbox - but I'm actually delivering them after they've gone to bed
