in the light of what has been shown about this crackpot revision tool, surely all future revisions should be scrapped by the union till the damm thing is set at the right speed ie 2.1 miles per hour as quoted by royal mails spokesman on every interview they have done since the s**t has hit the fan.
this pegasus thing is just a joke everybody in britain has been laughing at royal mail management since the story came out,if they still go ahead with it then i for one will be working to my time and then cutting off whats left problem solved.

Good on you mate every postman should do the same after all they cannot sack you if the speed is over 2.1 mph as they said "we ask our postmen too walk at two miles an hour" so why do anymore than they say!.mailman71 wrote:in the light of what has been shown about this crackpot revision tool, surely all future revisions should be scrapped by the union till the damm thing is set at the right speed ie 2.1 miles per hour as quoted by royal mails spokesman on every interview they have done since the s**t has hit the fan.

in our office the proposed revision is set at 4mph so if you cant go that fast you will never finish your delivery on time,i will never finish my proposed delivery but thats their problem not mine.your_postie wrote:Royal Mail ain't that stupid... 2.1mph is an average (they still say walk at 4mph) but when you take into consideration gates/door knocking etc, it averages out 2.1mph

royal fail i suspect is well out of order and the set speed is an h&s issue even people who know about yomping say the speed set is way too fast i think there might be a lot of mileage left on this serious issue that yet again royal fail have ignored h&s in it's quest to screw it's employees all the while big al lil adam sit at a desk (occasionaly) and twiddle there thumbs and the bonus pay rises out of all proportion keep rolling in :cfo :lfo

when this flared up the other day, someone text or rang radio 5 lives drive show, this or simon mayo's one. He was some kind of engineer and he said that 4mph was regarded as the speed for your average unlaiden man to walk at.

Was talking to the manager who is in charge of the pegasus revision in our office and he claims 4mph isnt entirely correct.
He claimed that no walk in my office would be 4mph x 3.5 hrs = 14 miles in length. 4mph is the speed one would walk without any extra data input into the system, but no one would be expected to walk at that speed. He claimed offices that had a flawed pegasus revision did not use the tool correctly, which in my opinion makes it a pointless exercise.
I asked, if pegasus is only as good as the information entered, what steps can one take to ascertain the validity of the input information? His answer? They will ask existing duty holders for info regarding the structure of their delivery and hope they tell them the correct data. Bonkers...

That's the point, the people using Pegasus are under instructions to reduce the budget so they just input speeds at the maximum and call rates as low as they can, this results in duties that are too long and managers threatening conduct code on those who can't do it.pickaname wrote:Was talking to the manager who is in charge of the pegasus revision in our office and he claims 4mph isnt entirely correct.

in our office now the Pegasus has done its job
obviosly the rounds are bigger
the frames in the office are bigger
leaving less room its absolute terrible
i mean they only took 2 walks out and the volume of mail whats coming extra is unbelievable as well.
in the office were i work are other areas i cover
they cannot get finished to there time
its not because there slow its just the time it takes.
but the managers say you can finish in time and when you say you cannot its like talking to a brick wall.
is this the same in your area
if so whats happening about it.

test the jobs prior to voting them in...
as i've said before we've done this in our office and knocked back Pegasus again & again for over a year.
they are now running it at 2hr 45mins, we should see what they come up with next week. but even at 2.45hr, i dare say if the job is done as it should be done then it will still be unachievable.
but at the end of the day its down to US, if a Pegasus revision gets in and the rounds can't be done 'the royal mail way' within the time given, then we must simply show as much, either book the time or make management aware that you have insufficient time within your duty to complete.
