'Managing' in a DO is a non-job. Putting out mail for sorting, drinking tea, cutting and tipping the next days mailsort, drinking tea, playing Thomas the Tank Engine with Yorks and ALTs, drinking tea, handing out leave forms with 'Rejected - Overbooked' written on them, drinking tea, picking on the new starters and the quiet people, drinking tea, leaning on the fitting, drinking tea, giving their number over the phone whenever someone wants to order uniform, then time for a nice cup of tea.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Like a lot of offices, after the staff have gone out on delivery the managers at my office don't appear to have a great deal to do. Tidying up, chatting, boiling the kettle and twiddling their thumbs seems to be their limit. The DOM at a smaller delivery office somewhere north of Cambridge is another matter. He spends all day trying to catch his staff out so that he can conduct them - three in one week in an office with about 70 staff!

Got back to my DO at 12.00 and shock  saw 2 managers and both were working. What is the world coming to. Mind you they are probably being hauled over the coals for 3 fails this week.

They're probably on the lookout for cyclists not wearing their helmets. The useless shower!

my managers always leave early on saturdays! but we also have a postperson who work in the office because of so say foot injury (lasting nearly 4 years now) and that person leaves even earlier than the two bully boys around about 8.30 think they are management even cross the picket line last week scab!
but because my firms don't need deliveries on saturday i have to do extra duties to make up my hours so say so much for job and finish!we have 5 people in the office (3 managers who do f**k all).
several of my colleagues have been sack or tranferred to other office for minor offences but our managers can leave whole walk in the frame and not get done for wilful delay or even disciplined!!!
so much for fairness!
£3000 for being bone idle bastard!is this leighton@s way forward!
