Dear All

Please find enclosed a discussion document which has been written to stimulate a debate within the whole union on what should be our next steps ( it will be printed and will be under the name of POST WORKER .) We are concerned that the Hooper report seems to be further delayed and the vacuum is damaging for both the union and Royal Mail as the do nothing solution is what's driving Royal Mail`s slash and burn proposals to close mail centre's and delivery units and their record budget cuts for next year.

Moreover this document attempts to put pressure on the only stakeholder the Government who has in our opinion betrayed this union in what it has done to the Post Office since the Postal Services Act came in and furthermore have agreed to Royal Mail`s modernization plan and the colleague share package which has allowed Royal Mail a freehand run down the industry.

In addition the Government has made it clear that it wants to introduce private capital into the Post Office be that in the form of a joint venture or through other form of investment. It is therefore vital that we start to begin the process which Emergency motion 6 carried at the General Conference of the CWU by all but one Branch of the CWU to show that unless the Labour party/Government maintain their manifesto commitment and keep within the terms of E6 then we will ballot the membership by march 2009 on whether we fund the Labour party at the next election.

This document also has a model motion which Branches can adopt. Additionally the authors believe that a National open meeting needs to take place in January to begin a sustain and united campaign which sadly the various departments at CWU Headquarters seem unable to at this moment due to in fighting which takes no one especially our members forward.

We are looking for individuals to initially support the document in a personal capacity and then we will send out to Branch`s and Divisions for their consideration.

This document is not an attack on anyone in the CWU. It is an appeal that we must start a united campaign on the unions policies and must apply pressure on the Government before it is too late.

The current dithering by us all only strengthens Royal Mail `s hand.

If you wish to put your name or Branch to the draft Document

The above document is the start of the fight back about both the Government and Royal Mail. Please support the document and the model motion.

It the right way forward. Its time to act and time to fight.

Nobody got a pot to pee in at the moment so outside investment becoming unlikely in the short to medium term. Be more worried about zero payrise.
Mildred: Hey Johnny, what are you rebelling against?
Johnny: Whadda you got?
