35 Hour week?
Just been reading a few old threads and came across one that mentioned a 35hr week and how the CWU should be pushing for this. So I thought I would put a poll up.

35 Hour week?
I would assume that it's a 35 hour week with no loss of pay.
But everybody has to remember that we are already on a 36 hour 40min week now (we get paid for lunch breaks which nowhere else I've worked gives that) and that RM may give it but they would still require us to do the same work as now.

35 Hour week?
Sorry I overlooked that explanation. Yes I was kinda thinking that no reduction to our current pay. 35hrs for 40hrs pay.

Re: 35 Hour week?
I voted no but my reasons are very simple, at the minute we work just under 37 hours and I know that RM will just take off a few minutes and tell that we're the only company that pays for breaks and that you'll just lose them to make us down to 37hours.
You've gotta learn how to think like the management to be able to beat them.
Oh, and why would I want to spend even more time with the wife

Re: 35 Hour week?
I haven't voted because although I agree with the idea of a 35 hour week, disgruntled is right
that RM would probably take any reduction back somewhere else (with the agreement of the CWU).
When our hours were reduced from 41.5 hours to 40 hours with the Way Forward Agreement all local
agreements were scrapped. In my MC we used to get 80 minutes a day in breaks, this was reduced
to the national agreement level of 40 minutes a day. We also used to get a 15 minute end of duty
concession for washing and changing, which was scrapped.
So although our working day was reduced by 18 minutes we were actually working 55 minutes longer
every day.

Re: 35 Hour week?
i think its about time we had something for nothing, every reduction in the working week sofar has had to be self financing and every pay rise we have to give to something, just look at the way forward,SDD and flexibility

When the union negotiated a cut in hours last time, the full timers went from 41.5hrs to 40 with no loss of pay.Lounge Lizard wrote:Is that a 35 hour week for 40 hours pay or 35 hours pay ?
