Today I reversed a rental van and clipped a bollard, cracking the rear bumper near the corner.
My manager wasn't there when I got back as I was on O/T so I couldn't tell him.
It was a rental van rather than a RM one, obviously I will report it but how do I go about this properly and has anyone had a similar mishap?
Cheers

OK, thanks. Do you (or anyone) know if the van will go to be fixed or if I can keep using it? It's a crack about 1cm wide right on the corner.
I am not looking forward to explaining it to my Lino

You say that as if driving is a positive thing. Drivers are treated like slaves at our office. Can't wait for a resign when I can go back to being a stress free postie again.

ive just done that from being locker/door/driver monkey ;)
They asked me to drive as they are desperate for people to do it, after today (nevermind the bump) I can see why more people are not very keen to do it. I don't mind it though, and tbh my managers are generally reasonable sometimes
There's probably not a driver that hasn't caused a dent and not a van that hasn't got a dent.
Being paid no extra for driving, don't know why anyone accepts doing it.

I go along with that, accident reporting on its own merit is an absolute chore and waste of 40mins of ur valuable time, If u can get away with it DO IT...lol

ye great lads, let someone else take the blame, i would have had a bollocking if it hadn't been for a customer that saw the driver that was at fault on my day off hit his apple tree and rip the s**t out of his lawn.
he denied the van was like it was, so it was me or him, sometimes i love my customers

I worked for a company ( CEO was once head of the CBI " It is not in our staff's interest to join a Union " ) that you got £30 - £60 docked from your wages for any form of dint - major or minor .
If a dinted van was handed over to you - you didn't check it over - you'd still get fined - so I agree with the last post - if you take that attitude to it's extremes , you get concentration camp mentality i.e. as long as somebody else is in trouble , not me - it is inefficient and it's divide and rule - management would love that !
MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.
Failure to report an accident or damage to a Vehicle is very serious and a conduct code issue, you could get serious warning on your record, I know I got nearly got done for it due to a misunderstanding, in the end I was found not guilty, things like this is putting me off driving.
