I haven't got one. I don't know how to do one. though people have tried to tell me.
Have spent hours (well at least a couple) trying to get one, that's why there's an empty
box there, but I'm not very IT literate.

I voted YES because although it is still busy, volumes are down. The fact we have less staff to do the job and walks are now bigger - makes it look like we have more mail .

Not in my office  still the same amount of duties but they have now become so heavy that they can only be completed if people come in early and run around and as I've said before at SDD an average day was 30,000 and now it's 38,000

Another question

Are mail volumes higher than when you started?

I started 1991 and volumes are still much higher than back then.

Mail is changing which can keep income and profit up even if letters drop off a little.

More magazines and pkts pleaseto fund our next payrise.
Big Daz....... 4 bags. Thats half a walk where I work. No wonder you want more. Or do I smell a wind up??

linkinpark wrote:I think this is spin by RM because most all of us know mail volumes are up but not all like hand written letters are down without a doubt but RM have claimed they make a loss on that so i cant see the problem with that if you believe them that is? Bank, insurance, broadband, phone, satellite, cable, holiday and health mags, packets, parcels, papers mags comics and newspaper subscriptions are all up so how are they spinning? Is the falling mail volumes RM talk about those a change in the way something is worked out or is it the mail DSA have taken from RM so we only get to sort and deliver it because they (RM) were too stupid and or greedy to do anything about it like going to the people of the UK and telling them what this sham of a competion idea would do to their service as well as going to court about it because it was unfair. So RM are telling the truth if its about DSA and the volume they have taken, but not about volume as a whole infact i have never seen a breakdown from either RM or the CWU about mail volumes but if you need to spin something you just say something to the press dont tell em the whole truth just a blanket phrase or two and let our free press do the rest its called spin, PR or a way of manipulating a subject without lying or telling the whole truth and i think its a dirty trick.

spot on. We are diversifying now, thats all. All major companies have to do it. We are delivering new products all the time that compensate for the lower stamped mail revenue. I dont mind this at all, but RM's consistent pathetic rhetoric that mail volumnes are down are simply perverse and untrue.

I have said this loads of times but senior RM and CWU officials are so removed from the workplace now, they simply have not got a clue what happens on our shop floors.

Is the falling mail volumes RM talk about those a change in the way something is worked out or is it the mail DSA have taken from RM .So RM are telling the truth if its about DSA and the volume they have taken, but not about volume as a whole
DSA is still processed through MC automation, therefore is still counted in the daily traffic figures. Mail volume reduction can't be explained by the introduction of DSA.

Were we talking about daily traffic figures? I thought we were talking about mail volume? Are they the same
Yes. One's a way of measuring the other.

I and I'm sure most of the delivery posties don't have time to log onto a RM computer because we're out delivering the reduced volumes of mail

:nana Yes, How often are the scales in each office callibrated??
ours seem to be about 3kilograms out(on the minus side)
could this be the reason mail levels are 'falling'?

Since the Credit Crunch hit, yes. Before that, no.

But as I had to choose between a simple yes or no, I said yes. Autumn pressure was very late, and not nearly as busy as it normally is. It's picking up now. But it's almost Christmas, so that's to be expected.

Having said that: once everything calms down, and the Credit Crunch ends. I'm completely confident, that the mail volumes will return to normal.

I could be wrong. But it's my opinion, nonetheless.
