Who will not be doing Christmas overtime?

If i was HQ the next IA i planed would be a simple WtoR
Exactly the type of action that would work.

1) No Cars on delivery
2) No OT
3) Take your break
4) Bag Matrix
5) Use Vans

RM would fail that very day.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

We had a questionaire this morno asking if we want redundancy (gulp) Looks like we are doomed!
Will the last one to leave the UK please switch the light off?

Just in case some useful phrases for our customers when TNT and Deutches Post take over.

Good afternoon do you have any letters for me

"Goede middag hebt u brieven voor me"
"Guter Nachmittag haben Sie Buchstaben für mich"

Do you have my benefits cheque today

"Vandaag hebt u mijn voordelencheque"
"Haben Sie meinen Nutzenscheck heute"

If there bills you can take them back

"Als er factureren c*** u hen terugnemen"
"Wenn dort Rechnungen Sie sie zurücknehmen könne"

Your late today

"Uw laat vandaag"
Ihr spätes heute

Who will not be doing Christmas overtime?

IPS is spot on!!

No need for IA. The job done properly cannot now work. Unfortunately we all have selfish sods who will always use cars (which means bag weights are irrelevant for them), never take meal relief etc etc just so thay can finish half hour early which makes the rest of us scumbags who do it properly (and safely) fail their delivery and therefore hauled into DUMS office to explain why we're so useless.

Even the "easy" walks would fail if the correct bag-weight procedures were followed. But these bag-weight agreements were brought out when the volume of mail was heavy. Now that it is so very light I wonder why we have bag-drops at all.

Only a year or so ago I read an article suggesting that housewives could deliver the mail after dropping their kids at school. 6 foot plus guys in my office are crying off sick.

Anyway, its not all about weight. Packets are the bane of everyones life in our office. The dreaded lightbulbs don't have any weight but they take up so much room in your delivery bag meaning that you have to cover dead ground to return to the drop-box. Christmas (and the lead-up to it) just means mounds and mounds of packets. Nobody seems to realise when it comes to negotiating Christmas pressure hours that the internet exists. If we are seriously to believe that mail volumes have decreased (lol) - surely nobody on either side can question the seriously dramatic increase in packets over the past few years.

And every year the "pressure hours" go down!!

This year I'll be doing the least amount of overtime (virtually zero) as I will not be going in extra. The only overtime I would consider doing is working over in an emergency (and I mean emergency).

I work full time but have learnt to live within my means since last year, instead of having to rely on overtime.

Good Luck to you mate

Me and my old duchess have been supporting two kids on a combined income of £22ish grand for 4 years. We dont have plasma or LCD TV, or Laminate flooring or whatever the latest must have toys/crazes are. We buy them when they are cheap just as the new toys are coming out. saves a mint. We have one car not a 4 x 4 but a cheap to run practical car. We dont smoke and drink a litte. We eat very well and have a social life not always in a pub. Tax credts help a lot for us. (No not a sucker on society but we paid in for 30 years so having some back unlike some visitors to these shores) We have holiday abroad every year. We have one CC for emergency (no debt) . We are not rich in money but am in health.

Cutting your cloth can be done. We dont owe anybody a penny except the mortgage. You soon get used to saying we cant afford it.
