Postman Matthew Langston's header stunned Leeds and put non-league Histon through to the FA Cup third round.

In a game played in monsoon conditions, Langston netted from Gareth Gwillim's corner just before half-time.

Until that point Histon had rarely threatened, with Patrick Ada's near-own goal and Luciano Becchio's shot over being Leeds' best first-half chances.

Lubomir Michalik hit the post and had a shot cleared off the line as Leeds sought an equaliser but to no avail.

Histon send woeful Leeds out

Whites suffer first-ever Cup exit to non-league opposition

Histon have sensationally progressed to the third round of the FA Cup after dumping out Leeds United 1-0 thanks to Matthew Langston's header.

The home side unthinkably forged ahead six minutes before half-time when Langston was perfectly placed in the middle to nod home Gareth Gwillim's inswinging corner.

When Leeds did wake up with an hour played and they were unlucky not to equalise when Lubomir Michalik's well-struck shot struck Danny Naisbitt's right-hand upright to safety.

Gary McAllister's side threw everything at the non-leaguers in the closing stages, but Michalik's drive that was superbly cleared off the line by substitute Antonio Murray was the closest they came to securing a replay.

What makes it even sweeter is that Leeds are Allan Leighton's team (he used to be deputy chairman). I do hope he was watching.
