She went back to the DO at the end of her shift, why would they take action for having missorts in her bag?
Because we are not to bring any mail back to the office, unless it is to be a kill off, but a general missort has to be delivered, i raised the question that if a foot man has to make his way back to the start of his delivery he will be well over time and was told that under no circumstances to bring mail back that was due for delivery.
So you are walking along The Avenue, you do no2, no4, no6 then at no8 you find you have a letter for The Crescent. You don't know where The Crescent is, what do you do? You can't deliver it, you can't take it back, you can't put it in a postbox...what do you do, EAT it?

PS. If I've gone too far then I apologise in advance and if anyone requests I'll remove it.
I had to look it up (Arbeit macht frei) and its origins.....
pretty harsh but i think we share similar feelings about RM management.

Had bag searched today 5 minutes after I entered the building. Just said "no probs" and handed puch over whilst continuing to talk to a colleague. Thinking about it later it did feel a bit uncomfortable the way it was conducted. I understand Managers are expected to do this as part of their job but I did feel awkward afterwards.

Personally I'd insist on a witness for the bag inspection. Wouldn't put it past a manager planting mail in a pouch to get rid of a 'troublemaker'. Remember items can and do slip out of bundles and there may be sometrhing you wereunaware of - no willful intent just a valid mistake.

The way I understand it, if you have time left then it has to be re-delivered but if no time, up to you whether you want to go over your time but you should always endorse and show to dom to cover your ass! If like mine they say that if it is dated it has to be delivered............... ummm! not my problemo I have walked my 3.5hours and have no energy or inclination to walk anymore!! Just do your job properly and you have no case to answer!!!

missorts happen due to sheer numbers , royal mail would prefer mis delivery rather than bring back letter and deliver correctly next day.

In my DO managers turn a blind eye to missorts being returned as it would cost them loads if staff were to backtrack and deliver them.
