Well Guys & Girls
I'm in the process of updating the A-Plus and Pegasus system for my office, (Was asked by the Rep as he Knows i will check every setting twice and double check what's being put in)
After reading every bit of info i could get my hands on,and talking to the Manager who is over seeing everything in my area,i think most of the problems stem from not making sure every thing is up to date.
All aspects of a round need to be taken into account.
By this i mean all dead walking, waiting for bag drops, time allocated for interaction with the public as you cannot ignore them when asked a question ect, time for items to be signed, calls with large volumes of mail, multiple calls at one address, flats you have to enter, hills you have to go up, long drives ect.
Now i know that people on here will not believe all this can be taken into account but between A-Plus & Pegasus there are settings for nearly all the above.
To be fair the Manager who is over seeing it, he has agreed we need to take all the above into account and has also agreed a walking speed of (and you wont believe this either) of 2 Kilometres an Hour, that's 1.2 Miles an Hour, as the terrain is very hilly on nearly all the rounds in my area.
Talking with him, his opinion is where it has been rushed in every thing has gone belly-up because other managers didn't want to put in the time and effort to get it right and just rushed it through, luckily for my office my manager wants it right and has given us till the end of March but says if it takes longer then so be it.
On a final note can i point out that i have told my manager i won't be taking any part in Geo-Route it's self as we have no national agreement on that.I'm just making sure as best i can that all the data that's on the system before it's Geo-Routed is correct.

I take it your area is not one with a area aggrement like mine has?
Reason RM dont want GR/PEG national aggrement is that some areas it would have to be re done as they will have had too low a call rate , too fast a walking speed and too low a attendance call rate used and therefore re doing it with new criteria means putting duties back in which would upset :cfo bonus!

Thats exactly what im getting at.
The manager who is overseeing it,not my manager has already said he thinks that if we get it right in our office the rounds will be made smaller.
As an example looking through A-Plus for my office every call was set to little mail, all flats and multiple calls were set to other (which means a single call)
and no distances were set on any call for walking around flats or multiple call's ect.
I am only just learning the system so will probably find loads more settings that need to be changed.

GEO ROUTE THE FACTS
88% call rate
speed 2
1.7% attendance call rate
Put 2 deliveries in took 3 out net affect 1 less delivery.
vast majority of deliveries coming within 3.5 hours but 3 of the new deliveries are going over.
Making it clear to anybody grumbling about their delivery to make sure they show on the singing in/out sheets that the delivery is going over 3.5 hours.
2 of the new part time deliveries are too big for a 6 hour day but perfecley alright for a normal FT attendance pattern. Rest of PT deliveries seem ok.
Ultimatley is the info that goes in to pegasus and the call rate/walking speed that is used which determines if the revision works out.

None of our call rates are 88%
, the call rates are based on the MC pre-sorted figures which start at 50% and go up to 75% for the heaviest duty

Thats the point ive tried to make to mbrs at my office that pegasus might not seem much goood to them but we are a lot better off than other delivery offices that have had pegasus, especially cambridge which is a 30 to 40 min car drive from my delivery office which is on the cambs/beds border.
They also need to understand the what is driving RM to introduce pegasus, thats it was not for our benefit but for the benefit of RM.

Your right RM only want to bring it in because they believe it will help them make cuts.
What i'm saying is if other offices get the A-Plus & Pegasus settings put in right RM wont be able to make the cut's they want.Granted it isn't going
to be easy but that's why i agreed to sit in and check what is and isn't being done. If i don't think things are right at least i can convey that to the Union
and the guys i work with.If no one sits in and checks what is being entered, what recourse do you have when a manager tell's you it was all done properly even though you know it probably wasn't.

Ours has been binned because the manager messed up the figures and it has to be completely re-done, so it's not likely to be ready before Christmas (2009Geezer wrote:Big Daz wrote:Thats the point ive tried to make to mbrs at my office that pegasus might not seem much goood to them but we are a lot better off than other delivery offices that have had pegasus, especially cambridge which is a 30 to 40 min car drive from my delivery office which is on the cambs/beds border.
