XMAS:Is it going to work for you?
With the cuts and everything else,we feel at our place that we will be going to the dogs.
We're there now at times so feck knows what it's going to be like later on and during xmas pressure weeks.
How do you guys think your place will be?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Alot will depend on if any of our long term sickies come back(5 off)as we have 9 reserves at our place so 5 of them will be used to cover there duties. We also have 2 extra van duties in place which will need 3 drivers(2+a rest day cover)and we are looking to put 2, 5 night duties in along with as much S/A overtime on nights as what we can get to advance as much IPS as possible. It will be harder then last year as we have 2 walks less and no Mech bundles as well.I along with alot of my colleagues are seriously thinking about opting out of xmas pressure and just working our contracted hours.I think there will be lots of docket going but not enough takers to cover it.

So what do you need to do to qualify for the xmas pressure 'bonus'? I just thought you needed to do your contracted time without going sick.
And how do you opt out?

You don't opt out of the bonus because as you say all you have to do is work your contracted hours. What JohnnyP means is that some of his lads wont work beyond their hours, and I think its the same over the whole country. I think at our place they asked who did not want overtime, think they will have a stampede if they do it this year.

we are in a new 'larger' office this year
whic i too small
sick levels are starting to rise just as they did last xmas
we have less staff this year than last (FT retirments and leavers)
duties are failing now, packet backlogs are growing
our pressure sorting is to be done at the MC as we have no room
very few did it last year in the old office,i doubt any will want to go to the MC to do it this year

Christmas will be fun in my DO, there are cut offs galore now with only a few people willing to work over their time (the main reason is the DOM doesn't pay any OT unless you agree it with him in advance and it's not worth the hassle so it's easier to cut off), so a complete disaster is coming and it will be even worse if they force through the Pegasus revision before Christmas

My managers must believe what they read in the courier about the mail being down, they still haven't thought about making up any christmas duties

I've just been told that all the PT's are being brought in early from this Monday because they need them to prep their frames.
It shouldn't surprise me that they can't organise themselves but it always does

It's just like a tap you can turn it on and off. But will the water come out when you want it to or will it trickle out like a drunk pi*sing up a lampost!.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:I've just been told that all the PT's are being brought in early from this Monday because they need them to prep their frames.
