Fair point, not so long ago, Communist were considered the Fith columnist and must be rooted out at all cost, people lost their jobs becuse of it, the NF were largly ignored as most people considered them a joke, Militant had a grip on power in Liverpool, now since the collpase of the Cold war, the BNP is considered a new threat and people lost their jobs over it, some are gaining ground in elections.

personally like I said no Police officers should be a member of any political parties to maintain neutrality.

With the Police , Prison service etc it's ar** covering especially if someone put a claim in against someone that was known to be a member - any Employment lawyer/ Professional Complainer / Troublemaker would have a field day - positive discrimination - perverse "moral" crusades "- - middle class white liberal handwringing and/or turning a blind eye due to political correctness is equally as bad and it does cause resentment which the BNP can exploit

There's also a middle class industry solely concerned with bullying people into believing that it's only white people that have abhorrent extreme views - after all all these "non-jobs " with nice salaries have to be justified - Many of RM's "moral " crusades " have backfired disastrously

Apparently there's Senior figures in the BNP who'd have no qualms about posting people's details on Red Watch - apparently they get round the law by having the site hosted from the States .

As for McCarthyism - RM did enough of that during and after the dispute in 2003 with those leaked spying plans - plenty of reps fitted up on very trivial H&B charges - let's just say everything is purely to impress more senior managers and RM operate at the legal limit at the best of times and the contradictory / conflicting statements are "interesting " .

Could be Interesting to see who is actually in those photographs - the problem is that one wrong turning at night could mean encountering some unhinged idiot who has been looking at that site .

I think the Police could dismiss some people with " extreme religious views " - they just don't want the publicity that tribunals etc would bring and all the right - on spin and hype to impress the Commission for Racial Equality etc would be in vain after the Met was branded as instuitionally racist .

You're right there. It's important to have as much neutrality as possible in the Police.

The problem at the moment though, is that the rules against BNP Membership are already in place. Which means that any Policeman/Policewoman who is a Member, knowingly committed a sackable offence. The rights and wrongs of that, need to be sorted out for the future. But it's too late for any who are already in that position.

I've not had time to check this out myself yet (I've got to set off for Work soon), but if it's true. Then it's disgusting, and it makes me feel much less sympathy for the BNP Members exposed earlier this week.

It was revealed in July of 2007 that up to eight police officers and civilian staff were suspected of having links to extremist Islamic groups, including Al Qaeda. Some of these people were believed to have attended terrorist training camps in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The names of these officers were featured on a list of alleged radicals said to be working inside the British police. The dossier, drawn up with the help of MI5, was instigated because of fears that Muslim extremists were taking advantage of the “positive discrimination” schemes adopted by the police to attract more ethnic staff.

One of the officers under investigation, who worked in the South East of England, was caught circulating Internet images of beheadings and roadside bombings in Iraq. When questioned on his somewhat bizarre choice of recreational activity, the officer came up with the novel excuse that he trying to “enhance” debate about the war in Iraq.

Given that the police seem to be pursuing alleged BNP members with such vigour, it would be imagined that in the same self-righteous manner, these jihadist officers would also face the wrath of their superiors.

Yet incredibly, these officers were not sacked, because the police said that they lacked the “legal power” to dismiss them. Classified intelligence reports raising concerns about police staff’s background cannot be used to justify their dismissal.

And it’s not just potential Islamic terrorists who seem to get the softly-softly approach. Police officers who are violent thugs, druggies, fraudsters and gun-wielding hoodlums are apparently preferred to officers who join a political party that simply opposes mass immigration.

Earlier this month it was reported that amongst Hampshire Police’s 4,000 officers, 42 had criminal convictions, many of these convictions occurring whilst they were serving police officers.

The convictions included discharging a firearm, possession of drugs, being drunk and disorderly, theft, benefit fraud and violent assault. Not one of these officers lost their jobs.

In fact, the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), the same body that says they are searching high and low for BNP members in the force, as reported above, confirmed that officers convicted of serious crimes while serving could remain in their posts.

So who would you rather have protecting you? Extremist Muslims who advocate beheadings and bombings as justified crime prevention tactics? Or a police officer who joins a political party that has at the heart of its manifesto taking back the streets from thugs, yobs and drug users?

By the way. I've had a little longer to look at the BNP Website, since My previous reply to you. It seems that they actually have some excellent policies, as well as the ones that I find abhorrant (who knew? ). It's a pity that none of the other Parties are willing to consider the good ones, as I can't bring myself to support the BNP, because of it's racist Policies.

Police are investigating after a car was set on fire near the house of a man whose details were published on a leaked BNP membership list.

Firefighters and police officers were called to the blaze on Eighth Avenue, in Windy Bank, Liversedge, West Yorkshire, at 10.40pm on Thursday.

The targeted car was parked outside a house next door to the man whose name was published on the list but who is not a member of the BNP.

Speaking at the scene, David Exley, Kirklees organiser for the BNP, said: "I spoke to the police this morning and they confirmed that a car had been firebombed last night and one of the lines of inquiry is the person who lives next door to whose car it was is on the list on the internet.

"I can confirm that the gentleman, whose house the car was outside, is not a member of the BNP and is not a current supporter of the BNP."

Mr Exley said that, while the man's name was included on the list, the BNP had no members on Eighth Avenue.

"That list covers everybody who has ever contacted our head office for whatever reason," he said.

"It could be this man got an information pack, looked at it, decided it's not for him and thrown it away.

"But unfortunately somebody has irresponsibly put this list on the internet."

The only BNP councillor on the local council, Roger Roberts, who lives a couple of miles from where the incident happened, said he believed the fire was not connected to the publication of the list.

In theory, I agree with you. But it all comes down to the Public's perception. If we only banned "extremist" Political Parties, like the BNP. We would leave ourselves wide open, to accusations of discrimination. So, it's much better, to simply ban Membership of ANY Political Party, for the Police. Because they have to be seen to be neutral.

I know that in reality, complete neutrality is impossible. But to actively support one Political Party, or another. Totally destroys that apearence of neutrality.

The Police can't work effectively, if they are seen to be on one side or another. Just look at what happened in Ireland, recently. Someone had to go into hiding, because of death threats. But the Police were unable to do anything about it. Because no-one would make statements.

As far as I'm concerned. That's the only justification for restricting someone's membership of a Political Party.

There has been some talk recently, of people wanting to expell BNP Members from Unions. But quite frankly, that's disgraceful! I may find some of their policies abhorrant. But they are just as entitled to their views, and more importantly, to expressing them openly, as the rest of us.

Why can't people just accept that everyone is entitled to their opinions, and to express them, without having to face violence!?!?!?

As I have already said: I find some of their policies abhorrant. But there are also some very good policies too. If you can stomach reading the rest, to find them.

But to attack someone for their beliefs!?!?! I hope they find the worthless scum who did this, and Jail them for a VERY long time! This type of intimidation can't be allowed to continue!!!! We need to make an example of them, so that others will think twice, before doing the same!

The fact that they got the wrong person, just makes it worse. Because now, anyone with a similar name, and/or address, will be scared too.
