Union Rep input please - contracted hours

Post by Pat Ostman »

Hi, around two months ago I had my contracted hours put up, my lino told me that means I am now back on a six months trial. As I already have been with RM a year do I really have to go back on a trial period again? Would have thought they already knew how I worked.

And just to be sure, what would happen if I 'failed' this time?

Your Lino is talking booloks in IMHO ive got permenant contract part timers in my office who have just gone from 28 hours weekly to 30 hours weekly.

You will have a new contract issuesd which should make clear what type of contract you have. I take it you have recived a new contract?

I had a new contract issued when i went from 40 hours to 30 hours

The new contract states that the terms of my employment have changed because of a 'temporary' change of hours. Thats what concerned me and why I pointed it out to the higher forces.

I was told that this just means I am on a 6 month trial due to the new contract.

As there is nothing on the contract about trial then your not on trial! Permanent contract but your hours have been altered on a tempoary basis.

Your contracted hours can change up and down with your consent but it dosent make a blind bit of difference as to whether or not your permanent.
