Cycle2Work Scheme
I posted this in a similar forum and although i got some replies, i didn't get the info' i need.
just wondered if anyone here can help me,
i'm looking at getting a bike through the cycle2work scheme, what i need to know is, am i totally tied to getting it through Halfords ?
the reason i ask is Halfords have a crap choice of bikes, i realise they can get pretty much any bike i want through their suppliers if they don't stock the 1 i want,
but they are far more expensive than what a dedicated cycle shop would be, for instance, i was looking at getting this
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/tre ... e-ec016510
which "Evans Cycles" price at £399, when i contacted Halfords, they said they can get the bike, but it would cost £550,
i know for a fact, that other places of work, like Manchester City Council have cycle to work schemes, which are organised with dedicated cycle shops, where u can get fantastic advice, help, a huge range of bikes to choose from and for an excellent price,
Halfords are a car accessories shop which do cycles as a sideline, why on earth did RM choose them to work with ?
Thx in advance for any help.

Cycle2Work Scheme
It might be worth ringing which ever department at RM deal with scheme to see if it is flexible. My local bike shop also deals with the cycle to work scheme and at the moment they have up to 50% off the bikes http://www.cyclesuk.com/cycle2work I would also like to get a bike for work but don't want to go to Halfords.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
Illegitimi non carborundum

If you do decide to buy a bike from Halfords, remember, 2 of the brands they have on sale are their own brand - Carrera and Apollo, yokel wrote:Ive got my Halfords voucher sitting here on my desk but Ive been to my local store twice and not found a bike I like.
and the sales person will probably steer you towards buying one of them to maximise their profit.
Boardman are probably your safest choice, but i'm still gonna hold out until i've exausted all other avenues.

I order and pay for the bike on my credit card,
bike gets delivered,
i send my "Letter of Collection" or voucher (whatever it is)
they reimburse the money i spent back onto my credit card ?
if thats what u meant, it sounds quite risky, have u done this yourself ?

Cycle to work thingy
Does any1 know if Royal Mail still do this Bicycle innitiative like they did a few years ago, don't know if it's still running where you got £500 and paid it back weekly. Similiar to the computer scheme.
Who is KyzaSoze? But to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have worked for Soze. You never knew, that was his power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, he's gone.

Looks like it
Someone should pop along with the correct URL as this is only for companies wanting to join the scheme itself.
http://www.halfordsb2b.com/bikes4work-schemes.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The professionally managed service includes account management for the employer and expertise on the complex legislation as well as informed advice on product selection. The scheme has set the model for the market and provides employees with the largest choice of bicycle and bicycle safety equipment available in the UK, via Halfords’ 408 nationwide store portfolio matching the employee distribution of even the largest employers we work with like Royal Mail.

Re: Cycle to work thingy
There is something in the back of the Courier I think, well there used to be, I don't even bother to open it anymore. I recently got a bike through the scheme, topic in Canteen section http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... le+to+work

I saved it as a link because a colleague was thinking of getting a bike and he didn't know about this scheme.
