All happening at my office, they have asked if anyone wants redundancy, any full timers want to go part time. The night shift is stopping , 9 jobs will go, and some jobs are having full time and some summer time flexibility placed on them. As night duty will be elsewhere we anticipate even later starts. 12 per cent budget savings are required next year, should be a fun time.

Surprised you've still got a night shift, we lost ours over a year ago, we also had some people take redundancy, with quite good terms, and half dozen took buydowns. But we've found out our traffic is 5% up from last year, and OT is starting to climb again, we just can't manage, getting out later now, than last Christmas, and to top it all off, we're in the middle of Georoute madness.

The union are saying "don't come in early" take your breaks" and "don't come back early" in other words do the job properly or your job will be the one to go or to be made bigger. They have recently recruited and taken on new posties now they are looking for redundancies and the office runs on overtime now so I can't see how these new proposals will work

You dont have to see how it works. You come in, do your 8 hours and then go home. Remember that jovial happy go lucky guy who used to sit in an office drinking cup after cup and do bugg*r all? Now he is the stressed, angry man and it is him and his bosses who have to see how it works, so leave it to them
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

If offices are running on OT, that should be saying you need more staff or smaller walks.

They aint asked for that in my office yet  If i got a good offer i would consider it sure. But it would have to suit me. I reckon they would have a large number of posties looking a pay out. I think this would be a better route for royal mail to take rather than try to bully f-time staff out the door as with that tactic they are more likely to stay even longer! :wave

I have always done the job properly, all this cutting is as a result of Job and finish, the mangers still think there is a lot of slack while conveniently ignoring the fact many have come in early, using cars, prepping D to D at home, in my office there was a work to rule with the result that some staff have been threatened with suspension, If thathappened to me, I would challenge the suspervisor to come out with me on delivery to call his bluff, its all come home to roost.
