When someone aks why is the mail so late nowadays...

Post by borders »

just read these posts , you could not make it up, i remember standing in my city centre trying to collect signatures and engage the public in conversation regarding the running down of a once good public service, most people didnt want to know-- we/they get what we deserve , people never really give a toss until it directly effects them. :mad
"why should it just be the bankers, politicians and the idle rich who get all the best things ? we demand a standard of living for our members that enables them to share in the fine wines and times that the likes of Cameron and his Eton buddies take for granted " - the late great Bob Crow RIP.

Well said. also a lot of postman have the "I'm alright jack attitude" and also only start whining when it effects them. How many strike breakers are whinging like babies now? Plenty at out our place.
I have no guilt whatsoever cos I stood on the picket line every day to fight the good fight against all these changes. Some of us could see it coming. I hear some collegues saying "but the CWU reccomended we vote yes" Would those same posties jump of beachy head if the CWU told them to do it? :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh
"I once asked a girl if she was an undertaker cos i had a stiff that needed seeing too"

I honestly don't know which is worst those that blindly follow the Royal Mail party line without argument or question, or those that vote to accept an agreement without first reading and understanding it. Actually I do, but still it is a downright liberty to Vote Yes and then complain that you are being asked to do what you agreed to. :arrrghhh

If you don't want to do the extra then as a lot say on here, work hard but do the job right:

No using private Cars - unless you understand the implications of using it such as RM insurance only covers the 3rd party not yours, even if you have business insurance, you will have to claim on it and your premiums go up and RM wont pay you more to cover it.

No finishing early - If you do when "work all your paid hours" hits and there is no more indoor work, you will be sent out on delivery again.

No rushing - trips and fails caused by inattention or tiredness could lead to conduct code and potential sacking when they find you culpable for an AOD. (If they deem you culpable they can count an AOD as a stageable absence).

No doorstepping - If stolen you alone are responsible and can be dismissed for "Wilful Delay" even if you have been instructed to do so by the Manager or recipient. (if you must get it in writing but even then I am not sure its even worth the paper its written on).

Didn't they realise that the members of the PEC who recommended we accept the deal are so far removed from what we posties do on a day to day basis that most will not have carried a pouch or form left a packet for years.

They recommended the deal, in good faith, but to be honest they will have not understood the direct implications on the individual members, they recommended it based on what they thought was best for the CWU not individual posties. Thats not a criticism that's their job, but you have to take that into account and make sure you understand the implications to you when you vote on any agreement.

No point in complaining after the fact, you shouldn't have voted YES if you don't like, or did not understand, the consequences of your choice.

Hey guys there are some good responses on there but if they are being arsey with you then my favourite is to just say you are taking it easy and walk away as slow as you can go. You gotta love annoying the tools.

They should be thankful they're getting any mail delivered at all, the way things are going they will have to come and get it - oh and as they are picking up their own mail maybe they could pop next doors in and the old lady across the road - oh there's a large parcel for that odd couple round the corner I don't suppose.................

On a more serious note how on earth did we manage to complete two deliveries a day, covering the ground twice, work a six day week and in just what is it 8 years?, we have rafts of mail left in every day and where we had a good customer relation we now find ourselves trying to defend the indefensible and where we once made 800 million a year we find that we are increasingly diving into debt? Stress! No one I know at RM ever had time off with it until these two monkeys took over. If that is good management I'll show my arse on the Town Hall steps.
