one of the few certain facts in life is that the best mail delivery service in the world is now a bloody shambles.
when i started 30 years ago we had all the town first class mail delivered by 9-30, now there are stories of people getting their mail after4 despite all these super machines and brilliant ideas thought up by muppets being paid a fortune.
all you hear in every office is cuts, cuts and more cuts, whem are some office managers going to say to their superiors that they just cant cut anymore and still supply a service.
the problem as well is that nobody at the top has ever done the job,so its just the blind leading the blind and the shambles we now have is the result.
our union has not covered its self in glory since the strike by allowing local bargaining because all thats happened is the smaller offices have been forced into crazy pegasus revisions that have caused chaos all over the country and seen posties moral sink lower but the great news is we got our free stamps its just a pity we will be to tired to lick them on the cards due to the disaster that's going to be xmas in many offices. :

Mailman71, every DOM knows his or her job is at risk if they say what they really think, so they tow the party line and hope WE believe what they tell us. The fact is, this job went down the pan once RM made a profit making buissness more of a priority than providing an efficient public service.mailman71 wrote: all you hear in every office is cuts, cuts and more cuts, whem are some office managers going to say to their superiors that they just cant cut anymore and still supply a service. :

I know. I find it very sad as i really loved this job. I still do to a certain degree believe it or not :-) but with our office meant to be starting pegasus next week i just dread to think!!!! It has just got to the point where we will not have the energy to do anything outside of work because we will be so dam tired all the time and my other half always giving off as i fall asleep early every weekend and in my eyes it has to stop sometime soon as it is going to get much harder for us.
I say whoever is making these crazy ideas why don't you come and do our job and give us wings to fly around a walk that the computer says takes 3.5 hours when in actual fact is is going to be more closer to 4.5 hours!!!

Madelin - you have seen the future and it isn't nice - we had a pegasus revision in the summer and I was fortunate, or so I thought at the time to keep about 50% of my original walk which I had held for 8 years and which finished near home. However the part I lost from it was replaced with a much larger and in mail terms just as dense area - appprox another 100 delivery points. My walk now takes me 4and a half hours+ each day and Pringle boxes which I was instrumental in arranging in summer have yet to be installed. I, along with other experienced posties this week gave up at last and refused to keep going into dusk deliveries on our longer duty days. For the first time this week in 15 years, I have culled my duty and will do so on 9 hour duties until effective changes make it manageable. Admittedly our managers were helpful but soon they will have no where to go - the strain is showing on good posties who want to do the job well but are being hindered by a business in chaos.madelin4 wrote:I know. I would like nothing better that to see that penis Lay ton with Craziers feet haging out his ringer whilst playing tonsil hockey with Mandy pandy take several full bags up a tower block and earn his 3 mill a year. He would have a heart attack on floor 1 (I wish) Nobody is worth 3 million a year especialy when they screw up my penison and put my wages in reverse, waste all that money on TVs for the mess rooms that no one has time to watch, waste all that money on spy inda cabs and hand held devices when paper would do, pay hopeless DIMS a bonus when they aint got a clue about management but only gestapo tactics, and then say we aint got enough work! w*****smailman71 wrote:one of the few certain facts in life is that the best mail delivery service in the world is now a bloody shambles.

We were told yesterday that the introduction of the new double deckers
has been suspended until further notice.
Still no reasons given.
No doubt it will be all our fault.

The real blame for this once envied company now being a shambolic mess is Tony Blair and his kiss a**se goverment, he set the ball rolling downbank on this once great company when he gave them commercial freedom in 98 and giving Postcomm too much power, we all knew what they were going to do as soon as they were set up, BACKDOOR PRIVATISATION, if he had kept this company in goverment control and not opened up the markets to profiteering companies then this company would still be making good profit and where the goverment took 90% of the profit, they could have used that money to subsidise POs all over the country, and the universal service would not have been in jeopardy, how on earth can you get the people at the top of this company interested in the long term future of RM when they are only on 4 and 5 year contracts, and whos pay is based on a bonus scheme based on how much savings they can make, the postal staff who work for RM care more about this company than Goverment, Leighton or Crozier, its a pity they couldnt have asked us, because ime sure thay would have got better ideas on how to take RM foreward.
